Unfortunately things didn't work out with this customer they expected a very unrealistic timeline on this job I charged them 45 an hour for me and 35 an hour for my helpers and the homeowner Wanted Black built-ins and trim white ceilings and black matte finish walls this one room requires a minimum of two weeks worth of work to do it properly with me and a helper a minimum of two weeks maybe a month just this one room because you have to tack Rag and sand in between each coat it needs about 6 coats but some people just don't understand so no hard feelings just wanted to show you guys the process step 1 sand everything Step 2 wipe down everything with tack rags step 3 Prime everything with bonding primer step four send everything again and wipe down with tack rags step five apply first coat of finish step six sand and Tack rag everything step 7 apply second coat of finish step 8 Sand and Tack rag again step 9 apply third coat of finish step 10 sand and Tack rag again Step 11 apply for a coat of finish this goes on until this job has about seven coats on it to do it correctly. Then there's the walls and ceiling step one apply first coat to ceiling step to apply second coat to ceiling which are white. Step 2 compound any nail pops or any imperfection on all of the walls step 3 sand walls step four apply one coat primer or self priming paint Benjamin Moore Aura in Black Matt finish step 5 6 7 and 8 apply black finish to all walls and sand in between coats till it covers and looks nice. That is the only way to do this job the and the proper way like I said this one room could take up to a month with me and my helper people just don't understand how much prep work goes into doing a high-end finish in Manhattan this job would have cost $60,000 just for an idea what prices are out there in Connecticut in Madison this job would have been around $30,000 but I only charged 45 an hour for me and 35 an hour for my helper sometimes I had two helpers but it was under a hundred hours labor to get it to this point so please people if you want high and worked on understand the process that goes into it understand that the colors that you choose make all the difference in time that it takes to do the job and on how the quality and finish will look!
