It’s been a while since I gave an update here, and I want to take a moment to share what’s been going on behind the scenes—openly and honestly.
When I started Unfurled Plant Co., it was a true passion project—a little shop full of greenery and heart. But life has a beautiful way of shifting, and mine certainly has. After closing the retail shop, I had hoped to reopen in a new way, with online sales and a greenhouse at a new location. But as time passed and I stepped into the role of homeschooling my children and caring for a newborn, my heart began to root in a very different direction.
I’m now fully immersed in our homeschooling journey, and somewhere along the way, my heart’s desires changed. I’ve discovered that a simpler, slower, more intentional life is what I’ve truly been searching for.
We’ve built a full-blown rabbitry, we raise quail, we tend an organic garden, and we’re growing a little orchard that fills me with so much hope for the future.
We are slowly working toward becoming as self-sufficient as possible. We’re also planning to build our dream home—something that wouldn’t be happening without my incredible husband, who works so hard to help make these dreams a reality.
And through it all, I’ve found myself again—not just as a mother and a homesteader, but as a woman who still deeply loves plants. Yes, I’m still growing them! But now, I’ve let go of the trendy ones or the ones I felt I should keep because of their value. I’ve narrowed my collection down to the plants that bring me joy. I’m learning to enjoy them again, for no other reason than they make me happy.
So what happens now? Well, this page will no longer be here(probably will delete it in a week or so).... but I’ve made a new page for our new life! I have been raising rabbits, so plan to see lots of that. Lots of babies & adoption opportunities hehe. Lots of gardening and building. Homeschool journey post and recommendations…and you can still expect the occasional plant post (let’s be honest, I’ll never totally quit!). Sometimes it might be a houseplant, sometimes it’ll be what we’re growing here on the homestead. Maybe even fun things like DIY cut flower kits (how cool would that be?!).
With my kids by my side and my husband supporting every step, we’re building something meaningful—something open-ended, evolving, and full of purpose.
If you’ve followed me for houseplants and feel like this chapter isn’t for you, I completely understand and there are absolutely no hard feelings if you choose to unfollow. But if you want to stick around and grow alongside us, I’d love to have you on our new page.
The story isn’t over. It’s just become beautifully open-ended.
