Lupine Site Design

Lupine Site Design At Lupine Site Design, we blend beauty with functionality, transforming outdoor spaces into stunning, practical environments.

Our goal is to redefine outdoor living by creating visually captivating, functional designs that elevate your lifestyle. Jessica Wolff is registered Landscape Architect (PLA) based in the southeastern Pennsylvania region. She grew up exploring the woods of hilly, suburban Pittsburgh where she was influenced by the city’s industrial heritage. Along with family roots in northeastern Pennsylvania’s c

oal mining territory, Jessica developed a passion for studying reclaimed brownfield sites, formerly industrial sites that were transformed into beautiful, sustainable and usable spaces for people and wildlife. Jessica is also interested in “learning landscapes”: sites as teaching grounds. Most recently, she worked on rain gardens at her children’s school from the grant funding process to conceptual design all the way through the installation and maintenance phases. Having worked at award-winning landscape architecture and planning firms, she has experience designing at various scales and with a variety of landscape architectural and planning project work types ranging from small site design to large scale master planning, urban streetscapes, residential properties, institutional and campus plans, green roofs, stormwater management design, planting design, public art installation design, and site features detailing, in addition to community-building efforts such as leading design charrettes. In addition to her practice work, Jessica has been a design studio instructor for 11 years. She has taught courses in design, graphics and interdisciplinary studios at The Boston Architectural College, Thomas Jefferson University and Northeastern University. She has won awards for her teaching and has published her thesis work at The Harvard Graduate School of Design.

The Thomas Jefferson University landscape architecture second and third-year students presented their ideas from their Studio coursework to the Overbrook Environmental Center community on April 30th. They received valuable feedback from the community in regard to their work that involved evaluating environmental stressors and how to remediate certain stressors through site design and city planning.

This group of students did a phenomenal job presenting and working together this semester and I was very proud to teach them!

Zizia aurea is now in bloom, and the return of the bluebirds and eastern swallows makes it feel like spring has truly arrived!

So proud of my students and all they have accomplished. This semester, we have worked with the Overbrook Environmental Education Center (OEEC) to help plan out initiatives for an EcoZone overlay district in West Philadelphia.

Their creativity, dedication and growth were on full display at the final review for the TJU Landscape Architecture Design and Urban Design Studio.

It has been amazing watching their ideas evolve and come to life.

There was much excitement in our meadow project this week when Blake Goll of and Bob Barrett of visited and installed two new bird boxes! These bird houses are designed for native bluebirds and eastern swallows. There are currently two existing bird boxes in the meadow which Blake installed in 2023, and it has been wonderful to experience their nesting habits. These new bird boxes are an upgraded design which Blake explains in the video. My son Tommy observed the installation process while whittling a stick with his new pocket knife. We also saw an invasive praying mantis egg case (oothecae) which we removed.

Winter meadows may look quiet, but life is still at work beneath the snow. Soil, insects, and small wildlife stay protected and active. By leaving leaves and plant stems in place, we help the winter ecosystem thrive so it is ready for spring growth.
