AI is changing our world and it is happening fast.

As professionals we use AI to help with simple tasks like organization, email management, and so on.

And our clients are increasingly using it as a resource, too.

While it is great and has its uses, the expertise, experience, and judgment of a contractor and architect can’t be replaced.

AI can suggest, but it doesn’t know your house, your budget, or the realities behind the walls.

No matter how good the plan is… demo tells the truth.

and discuss that once the walls open up, surprises come with it—old framing, hidden fixes, things no one could’ve seen on paper. That’s not a mistake… that’s construction.

The difference isn’t avoiding problems.
It’s having the right team to solve them.

Contractor + architect working together = real-time solutions, not delays. That’s how good projects stay on track.

Most people see the problem.
Good contractors fix it.
Great ones ask why it happened.

Client asked why one column base is rotted and the other isn’t 👇

The answer isn’t just the wood… it’s the water.
A failing gutter above was dumping water in one spot over and over.

If you only replace the column, the problem comes right back. Fix the cause, not just the damage.

Project Management 101:

1. Problems will come up — there’s always a solution.

2. Just as important: guiding clients through both the problem and the solution, and helping them understand it’s a normal part of the process.

Renovation tip: minimize mid-project changes.

Once construction starts, the schedule and trades are already lined up. Changing things mid-project can mean redoing work, reordering materials, and rescheduling trades.

That’s how delays and extra costs happen.

The more decisions made upfront, the smoother the renovation will go.

There was a very brief period, between the closing of the gym I owned and the path that I am on now, where I thought I could be, or wanted to be, a custom woodworker. I bought a rather larger CNC and molds to pour epoxy resin tables. It was a short chapter, nonetheless 😂. Anyway, I did make a beautiful dining room table for one of my closet friends. It’s back in my “shop” for some touchups and a re-stain. Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

TBT to one of my favorite projects with .co

My opinion: Designers make good projects great. They see the details others miss, balance style with function, and turn a good idea into a finished space that actually works. 🎯

The right designer doesn’t complicate the job — they elevate it. 🤝

Code can be hard to keep up with, specifically when it comes to outlets and kitchen islands. and discuss the past, present, and probable future when it comes to power on your island.

Still looks and feels like the middle of winter, but spring is around the corner and with that we have a lot of new projects getting underway!

If you are thinking of a renovation, and have any questions about budget, feasibility, permits, etc., shoot me a DM, I would be happy to help!
