🔋 PSA for Homeowners — Especially Our Shore & Seasonal Residents

We’re getting a lot of calls lately for keypads with dead batteries, and I’d like to help everyone avoid getting locked out.

If you have a keypad lock, please remember:

✅ Replace the batteries regularly — even if the lock seems fine.
Cold weather, humidity, and long periods without use (like at a beach house) can drain batteries much faster than expected.

✅ Never count on the keypad batteries being “charged” or lasting all season.
If the home is vacant for weeks or months, the batteries are slowly dying the whole time.

✅ Always keep your physical backup key accessible.
Every keypad lock has one. Store it somewhere you can reach before you need it — not inside the locked house.

A quick battery swap now can save you a lockout later. And if you ever need help, I’m only a call away!

Playing clean up. Another scammer’s fine work. Tailpiece was bent preventing screws from seating all the way down. We installed a new tailpiece and screws. Lock operates like new again. Just a reminder to ask for a License Number. A lockout and rekey should NOT cost $500.

Making an owner’s closet. Removed customer’s padlock. Drill, router and install a Kwikset deadbolt.

This video is 2 years old now. We had a customer back in June who installed this exact lock approx 1 year ago. They thought the batteries had died and tried to use the battery back up port on the front of this lock. The lock had power, but would not retract the bolt. The motor had failed and without an emergency back up key, there was no way to pick or easily drill the lock to gain entry.

Overall, this Yale lock is still a great lock. We rarely see failures with them compared to other brands. A great option for those who want access control features. Just buy the one with a backup key!
