Yesterday was a bit chilly.
So Carley made CHILI!!!

Chili Season is officially upon us.
It made total sense that our newest Team Member (and bookkeeper extraordinaire!) made a batch of beef and bean chili in her slow cooker.

Carley feeds a family of five. And works a few different jobs (!!). Slow cookers (crockpots to us Boomers) are an awesome appliance because they allow you to prep in the morning and come home to a steaming, healthy and delicious dinner.

Just put out a bowl of sour cream and grate some jack cheese. A hunk of brown bread and BOOM. Dinner is served!!

I love when the lovely people I work with do product testing.

It’s a win-win. They get to know what we sell. And we all get delicious treats!!

We got in a massive order of USA Pan. My favorite. Just in time for holiday baking. Yay!! 👩‍🍳

Shauna had a zucchini that needed to be used or relegated to the compost pile. Thank god she thought ZUCCHINI BREAD. Even better…Shauna thought CHOCOLATE CHIP ZUCCHINI BREAD. In a USA Pan loaf pan.

USA Pan has been my favorite bakeware since the day I first tried it. I knew it would be great when I first picked it up. It felt/feels like the commercial bakeware I used when I worked in restaurant kitchens.

It all makes sense. USA Pan is a spinoff of Bundy Baking Solutions - a manufacturer of commercial bakeware.

In 2009, Russ Bundy was asked to make a line for home use. That idea became USA Pan. Seventeen years later, the line is still made entirely in the USA. So many big companies have their products made overseas (read China) because the cost is substantially lower and the shareholders can make more money. USA Pan continues to be made in Pennsylvania. And they are (and always will be) PTFE and PFOA free. Plus, they bake beautifully.

I wish you could have tasted the bread Shauna made for us. It was moist and chewy at the same time. Perfect.

A truck (or two or three) shows up EVERY day filled with NEW MERCHANDISE. It’s super exciting and a little overwhelming TBH.

Fortunately, we have a rock-solid Team that roll up their collective sleeves and dives in. It’s pretty awesome to watch.

We went big on PRETTY PAPER PRODUCTS this year. We fell short last year (sorry about that!!) and y’all were disappointed with our selection.

Paper plates, cocktail napkins and guest towels for your powder room. They’re all here.

I always love bringing Dorset Daughters’ hand soap and a pretty pack of guest towels as a hostess gift. It’s more personal than a bottle of w**e. We can pop your selection in a gift bag and tie it up with a raffia tie. All for less than $25.

No need to figure out if your hosts like red or white!!

I’m pretty sure a bowl of ramen can cure anything. It’s like the modern day version of Nona’s chicken soup.

When an exhausting day at work rolls around, I walk next door to Neighborhood Noodle.

There are always great specials on the wall. But if I’m feeling really beat up, a steaming bowl of tantanmen ramen is my go-to.

With PILES of new merchandise coming in daily (I won’t say the C word!), I have a feeling I’ll be eating a lot of ramen. 🍜🤤

The local leeks are luscious lately.

So many people don’t use them because they are afraid they won’t get the grit out. But it’s super simple to clean leeks.

I cut off the dark green tops, wash them and pop them into the freezer. Next time I make chicken stock, I’ll toss them in. I always have a bag of vegetable peels and rogue ends of carrots etc in a ziplock bag in the freezer. They’re easy to dump into the pot on stock-making day.

Grab some leeks!!! 😋
