Super cool fact that my 102 year old grandmother cued me in on. Carolyn from Homesteading Family is my cousin. I was so starstruck to discover this when o was recently going through family photos! I’ve followed their YouTube channel for years. I spoke with her daughter Brianne on the phone and have a gift to send soon. I was lucky to have my grandmothers passion for gardening and food preservation passed to me. And to find out that I’m not the only one in the family, well that was pretty special. 💚🍃

Introducing Kintsugi June 🌱

This garden isn’t about perfection.
It’s about mending.

I’m calling this space Kintsugi June, the kitchen garden at Healing Hollow — named for the month I came back home, and for the Japanese art of repairing what’s been broken with care instead of hiding the cracks.

This year’s plan is simple and intentional:
• a central bed of mixed greens for everyday meals
• circular beds for herbs, flowers, and companions
• tomatoes and peppers growing where they can stretch
• space left open for what comes next

No rushing. No overbuilding.
Just tending what’s in front of me.

Kintsugi June is where I practice showing up daily — planting, harvesting, learning, and letting things be imperfect and still beautiful.

🌱 Spring has officially started at Healing Hollow 🌱

I’ve got 49 seeds planted and underway — all nestled into pods, each one staked with tiny flags so I know who’s who and who’s plotting to become dinner… I mean, dinner ingredients.

Enter FurGus.

I turned my back for approximately 37.5 seconds and he chose violence.
No soil was harmed (there is none), no leaves were lost (none yet), but the energy was unmistakable.

So the AeroGarden has now been placed in protective custody in my bedroom.
Which means I woke up at 4:45 a.m. to a blast of grow-light sunshine like I was being interrogated by the FBI 🌞😅

Why so early? Because these tiny overachievers need 15 hours of light, and apparently my sleep schedule is now plant-based.

Also… I really miss having two AeroGardens.
This feels like a job meant for a two-sun system.

No sprouts yet — just faith, labels, and big spring intentions.
Healing is growing. Spring is loading.
And FurGus remains under close supervision. 🌱🐾💚
