One of the goals we have here at Stone Blossom is keeping your garden as low maintenance as possible. We can reduce the hands on care needed with just a few choices during your garden installation.
To start, a drip irrigation system can be installed to help you spend less time watering your plants. But if irrigation isn’t the route for you, a great alternative is to focus on planting more drought tolerant plants that require less water.
Another way to reduce maintenance is to strategically space plants in order to limit the amount of pruning needed.
Lastly, we can utilize groundcover plants (plants that grow to be less than a foot tall, but can spread several feet wide) to minimize mulching and weeding over time.
Overall we know how valuable your time can be, so reach out today if you would like us to reinvent your garden to give you more time to able to just sit and enjoy it!

This property already had a beautiful view. We brought our comprehensive landscape services to the table to help the homeowners enjoy it even more.
First, our Construction crew installed granite steppers leading to a granite patio that overlooks the distant hills. Next, the Planting crew added evergreens, shrubs, and perennials to bring vibrant color and texture to the space. Years after the initial build, our Fine Gardening crew continues to maintain the property, ensuring everything looks just as beautiful as the day it was installed.
Reach out today if you’re looking for expert help with any of your landscaping or outdoor construction needs!

Here’s a peek behind the curtain of a project that we are currently working on! This client had a new garage built, and some much needed landscaping was desired to blend it into the property. The first picture shows a design that was made for the project. A refined woodland theme meshed with the client’s preferences. The following pictures show the progress of this property as we work through each step. We still have the remainder of the granite steps, planting, and landscape lighting left to install. Keep an eye out for the post of the complete project in the future!

Take a look at the beautiful updates we did for this waterfront property! A large patio was installed for entertaining, with granite steps leading down to the dock. We also built a perched beach to provide an intimate setting close to the shoreline. Let us know if you are looking for an outdoor upgrade on your property!

Do you want your roses to look like the first picture, rather than the second? We are seeing a lot of rabbit damage in the Bedford area this year. Rabbits feed on the nutritious cambium layer beneath the bark of woody plants to survive winter. This behavior, known as girdling, often occurs when snow cover prevents access to lower vegetation. We had consistent snowpack for most of the winter this year, which explains the damage we are seeing.
The most commonly affected plants have been roses, lilacs, and spirea. Plants may recover, but branches that are girdled are likely to die. With their root systems still intact, plants can sprout new growth from their base. It may be a few years before your roses are in full bloom again. Reach out now to learn more about how rabbit repellent can stop this from happening to your garden!

Do you love pollinators? You may want to think twice about an early spring cleanup.
As the weather gets warmer, it’s tempting to jump into spring garden cleanup. But, pollinators still need cover until temperatures are consistently above 50 degrees. Last year’s leaf litter provides protection for both plants and invertebrates against late season frosts.
Ask us about a late spring cleanup visit that is pollinator friendly!

One thing many people forget when it comes to landscaping is that planting does not always have an instantaneous effect. When installing potted plants, they can typically take up to 2 or 3 seasons before they are fully matured in garden beds.
A great option for instant impact is to install perennial sod.
Pictured above are before and after shots of the same project after we installed lowbush blueberry sod (as well as some steps, boulders, and a gazebo), taken only one year apart. If you are looking for a landscape upgrade with quick results, reach out today to hear about our sod installation options!
