NKBA 30 under 30 class of 2024!

Meet Chrystalla Neocleous! Some little girls like to play dress up in their mother’s clothing and high heels, but Chrystalla Neocleous went a step further: She literally followed in her mother’s footsteps. “My mom has been a successful kitchen designer for 30 years,” said Chrystalla. “She opened her first solo business when I was six years old. I spent a lot of time with her and found so much inspiration from what she did.” Now the Senior Interior Designer at her mother Vasi Ypsilantis’ Greenvale, NY-based The Breakfast Room, ltd., 27-year-old Chrystalla is also a mom herself who is still figuring out the work balance between being a full-time mom and a full-time designer. One more kitchen I designed in another hysteric Long Island home. This Georgian style mansion was built in 1890 for Standard Oil heiress Lydia Pratt. It was a wedding gift from her father Charles Pratt who founded Standard Oil together with John D. Rockefeller in 1874. Pratt was an advocate for education and founded Pratt Institute and where my daughter graduated as an interior design major. This kitchen was designed to respect the Georgian architecture and its timeless style while including all the modern features of today. The kitchen was extended into the family room to house a tall wine cooler and bar/buffet with a generous serving area @ Glen Cove, New York

I am blessed with so many lifelong friends and am thankful for all of them. Through almost two decades, spending so much time together with clients, jobs, show houses and life itself, has made it all so much more meaningful. From our first trip to Germany and to so many others in Milan, Paris, and beyond I am thankful for having such a talented and beautiful friend that will always be part of my life.
