Dahlia propagation: there are videos and how tos from all the top dahlia growers. Each providing their practices from taking one tuber and producing multiple new plants that will grow and withđ¤will in return receive tubers from each cutting.
Being relatively new to the dahlia world I have been playing with different techniques and growing mediums to find what works best for me. One thing I have noticed ⌠direct tuber cuttings seem to produce roots faster.
I took 2 cuttings from the same tuber. The first cutting I placed the bottom leaf and node into the soil and the top growth shoot with a node. The second I split the bottom leaf and node down the center and placed each in the soil. Then the next node and finally the top growth shoot and node. So 6 cuttings in all in the same Neversink tray with the same soil mix. 2 weeks later I checked. The cuttings that had directly been attached the tuber had rooted but the plant cuttings still yet to form roots.
So, the question is ⌠which cutting will form tubers better? Any guesses??
What is your favorite method?
