Today, Carlile Architects LLC and its consulting engineer partners were recommended to the Capital Development Board as the selected firm for two local projects:

IDOT District 1 - Weigh Station building replacement and Commercial Vehicle Inspection new building (New Lenox/Frankfort)

IDOT District 2 - Work includes renovations, additions, improvements, and new buildings at the Milan, Morrison, and Oregon facilities.

These two projects represent enhancements allowing IDOT to best serve the residents of Illinois through infrastructure upgrades and represents project budgets totaling $11.2 million dollars. We are honored to continue to be relied upon by the State of Illinois in delivery of architectural and engineering services.

Carlile Architects has developed a concept for a potential 7,300-square-foot expansion and renovation of the existing 17,595-square-foot Bourbonnais Public Library District. The proposed project would increase the library’s footprint by approximately 30% while integrating a new addition with the existing architecture to create a cohesive, modern community space.

The concept includes:

📚 Expanded library resources with additional stacks and updated adult services and computer areas
💻 Flexible spaces for quiet study, private gatherings, meetings, and collaboration
🚗 Improved access and parking, including 71 new standard spaces and additional ADA parking
📖 A dedicated drive-through book drop-off lane for added patron convenience
🌿 Enhanced outdoor spaces and landscaping, including a new pergola seating area

The proposed improvements are designed to create a more accessible, functional, and welcoming library for the Bourbonnais community while thoughtfully connecting new and existing spaces.

Important: This project is a proposed concept and is not an approved or currently under-construction expansion. The project is being considered as part of the library's upcoming tax referendum in November.

⛳️ What a great day at the Kankakee Chamber Golf Outing!

We had a tee-rific time last week! After a little rain to start the day, the skies cleared up and it turned into a beautiful afternoon on the course. ☀️

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Carlile hole to play a game, grab a beverage, and hang out with us. We loved seeing so many familiar faces and meeting new ones!

There's a lot of momentum building in Kankakee County, and it's exciting to be part of it!

Today's ECDA luncheon was a great reminder that strong communities don't happen by accident. They grow because people are willing to invest their time, resources, and vision into making them better.

If you've driven by our office lately, you've probably noticed the construction!

While we've continued serving our clients from our first-floor offices, there's been a lot happening upstairs.

We're giving the entire second floor of our 100+ year-old building a complete transformation. The space was taken down to the studs and is being rebuilt to better support our growing team and the way we work.

When it's complete, the upstairs will feature:
New private offices
A larger conference room
Collaborative project space
A breakroom & kitchen
Three new restrooms

In the coming weeks, we will be replacing all the windows, laying all new flooring, adding doors, trim, and all the finishing details! There's still plenty left to do, but it's exciting to see the vision beginning to come together.

We're proud to be investing in our historic building while preserving its character for years to come. Here's a look at the progress so far!
