Finally my front garden is looking great.... Pics tomorow!!!Thanks to Rick Anderson for finding my house in the weeds... With regard to feeding the birds, I only have hummingbird out until they start to migrate, then only very infrequently...In the winter I feed the birds that winter here only when it is snow covered or a solid freeze...And even then it is spradic because I do not want them to be dependent on the feeders...I want it to be a treat!!!

I have not been posting at all, sorry. I finally finished the plantings in my front yard. Only mulch left.

Woo Hoo...This July I will FINALLY be able to finish my back yard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..I'll post before pics tomorrow afternoon!!

I picked the last of my carrots today...My brussel sprouts have just been showing signs of growth, so I am going to dig them up and move them to the greenhouse tomorrow.....

We will walk you step by step in the design process, take you to various nurseries to view your plant selections in a mature state to help you decide and send off a soil sample so you can amend your soil. We will design your landscape and be there with you to get you started and even pick up your supplies!

We can also design a one, two or three year design process where year one is the bed shapes, soil amendment and background plants. Year two can be the smaller shrubs and the last year the foreground perennials.

Update on Mosquito Barrier...I only sprayed 1 gallon (3 ounces mosquito barrier and 1 gallon water) a few days ago and I think it is working...

Tonight I was on the deck with my neighbor and her two daughters and did not get bit once....Just an FYI, normally I would get bit @ 6-10 times - my property backs to wetlands)

My neighbor's 1 year old has learned how to through the doggie door..lol All the kids have love to climb through and they all practiced counting Shorti's spots..lol!!!

I posted some computer renderings a while ago....What can I say, I'm slow...That, however is the good thing about having a DIY project. I can work as I want or circumstances allow....

Just as an example, The storm we had in Mantua on 6/23 took a full month of dealings and cleanup...

I do have some picks that I will post tomorrow showing the progress!!

Today I sprayed 1 gallon of mosquito barrier around my deck.Tomorrow I'll spray another gallon further out into the grass and the the side planting beds. I'll also let you know if it works...

When I stain the other half of my deck tomorrow, I will forgo mosquito spray...I HATE using it, but I get eaten alive..Always!!!

BTW..It does REALLY smell garlicky at first but goes away quickly too!!

I just received my "Mosquito Barrier" for my yard....We're expecting rain tomorrow so as soon as the weather clears I will try to rid my yard of mosquitoes without pesticides...

Mosquito Barrier's ingredients are:
Garlic juice 99.3%
Citric acid .5%
potassium sorbate .2%


The product says that it will last for 2-4 weeks and through 2-3 rain storms. The garlic smell disappears in 20 minutes... High humidity also decreases the duration of coverage but, Hell, I'll try anything natural!!!

I'll keep everyone posted on its effectiveness!!!
