Mental Health hits differently in the construction trades.
The latest research from CPWR shows construction continues to face one of the highest su***de rates among working industries, while anxiety, depression, and psychological distress are all trending upward. One statistic that really stood out to me: the number of construction workers who needed mental health care but couldn’t afford it increased nearly 140% from 2018–2024.
Behind every schedule, estimate, and jobsite is a human being carrying pressure most people never see.
As leaders in this industry, we have to keep building a culture where checking in on your crew matters just as much as checking the quality of the work. Strength isn’t staying silent. Strength is speaking up, supporting each other, and making sure nobody feels alone.
If you’re struggling, reach out. If someone around you seems off, ask the question.
Building a better industry starts with taking care of the people in it.
