I have been remiss. I haven’t posted the much sought after before/afters of late.
So, here we go:
This is a beautiful multimillion dollar house that needed our magic.. with a quick turnaround due to a job relocation.
We wanted to bring in graphic designs and textures and pop some color to enhance the appeal of the large spaces.
In many of the houses we stage, the beds are on walls that block the flow of the room and minimize the space.
We move a lot of beds, including this one.
Anyway, the price points of the houses we stage, especially lately, are quite varied.
From the mid 5’s to the 3’s with a bunch of zeros.

A couple of years ago, Tom and I went to Taliesin.. Frank Lloyd Wright’s estate and school in central Wisconsin.
One of his architectural themes was compression… narrow the focus of a room or entrance with low ceilings and open up into a vista that highlights nature.
As you can see from these before/afters Frank was busy giving us inspiration to transform this space into a Taliesin right here in Maplewood.

Yesterday’s magic….

There are many puzzles to solve when staging a house… this house had a unique floor plan that needed some cohesion and each space needed to pop.
We loved the wallpaper on the main floor .. and made the most of it with mid century inspired furniture and art.
We opened up the space for a seamless expansion of the living and dining areas.
We turned an office into a bedroom, and flipped most of the furniture in the other rooms to highlight the size of the rooms.
Some of the furniture was heavy… both in color and size… so we brought in more streamlined pieces to show off this fab house.

Yesterday’s magic… when we walked into this fab house I knew my good friend Kate had designed some of the spaces. So, the challenge was to keep her amazing aesthetic and adapt it for staging.
So, we neutralized a bit of the color.. moved the sectional forward in the family room and.. we knew we had to feature the fireplace for marketing the house because errybody wants a cool fireplace.
So, we flipped the seating to face it and show off the detail of the fireplace.
We also flipped a lot of the beds to other walls.. and the difference is huge.
We tweaked the outdoors spaces as well.
We significantly changed the basement with more space appropriate furniture and design.
Staging is all about showing off space to potential buyers to not only make it look like a magazine.. cuz let’s face it that’s the expectation.. but more importantly make it look bigger.
In this market, staging makes the difference.
