This basement was once completely closed off, with a solid wall, no access below, and no living space above. As part of the Pinehurst whole-home remodel, we opened that wall to connect the existing basement to a new guest suite with its own en suite bathroom, supporting work-from-home, hosting guests, and entertaining without a trip back to the main level.

Green is having a moment in design right now. We're seeing a real shift away from blues toward moss and sage tones — and when you pair them with warm gold accents and mid-range wood finishes, the whole palette feels fresh and grounded. Which shade of green speaks to you?

We absolutely love floating cabinetry, but it also requires us to ensure the plumbing is not visible under the cabinets to maintain a clean look.

For this project, we added a knee wall to give us extra space for the plumbing, with the added benefit of larger countertops in the primary bathroom.

Seven years with Mike on the team. He came to Custom Dwellings with decades of hands-on carpentry and remodeling experience in Atlanta already behind him. These days he manages construction from the job site, not from a desk, and still picks up a hammer when the work calls for it. That combination of experience and presence is something you can't teach.

People are always surprised by how much intentionality and math are involved in tile layout.

For this shower project, we were not only focused on the knee ledge but also on how the windows would be framed.
