Been a long growing season with lots of changes, over 90% of my home garden has been relocated to other locations and it sure has been a heck of a trying year. I find peace and joy in the garden and with plants.

I wanted to share some of my seedling. Some will make it another season, so are wonky and won’t!

Growing dahlias has been a pure inspiration from its very beginning for me and I can’t imagine not growing them ever again! I’ll post some videos in the comments as well for better look at some.

Long time no posts! The majority of my garden this year has had to move to a few locations to continue my flowers dreams but it hasn’t stopped me from growing and working on the hybridizations of my flowery favorites. Dahlias, zinnia, answeet peas, for now 🫣😂

After two years of searching and having issues with customs, I finally was able to get my hands on a sweet pea cousin that is critically endangered in the wild… Lathyrus belinensis

One of my main goals with my sweet peas breeding is to get the illusive long lost YELLOW, but also I’m excited to help keep this rare species alive and growing! It’s thru the hands of horticulturalist and conservation that this species has a chance to survive. It’s found in just a 2km area in its native habitat in Turkey!

If you would like to read more about this rare sweet pea, or some of the breeding and hybridization efforts that have taken place, I have added a couple articles that might be of interest.

With all the hectic chaos of this winter/spring and changes in my life and lack of time, i’m very sad to say I don’t think I’ll get to open my web page this year after all. Honestly I’m just hoping to get ground (and a home for Edith and I) to plant again so I can continue my flower growing and breeding dreams alive. 🤞 I spent a few years working on them now and growing them sure has been the better part of my days the last few years. Wish me GOOD luck y’all, I really could use a little. 💚

(Anyone have a farm with a secondary living space, small home or ?, for a father and sweet little daughter to live and grow lots of beautiful flowers?!?) looking to keep her in her ferndale school district ideally.

PPS, I will have some tubers for sales still coming up, but nothing major unfortunately. Still dividing even with this little bit of free time I do get.

Happy Valentine’s Day yall!!! 💘
Finally time for me to start dividing! 🎊🎉I’ll be dividing as I have time over the next couple weeks and should have a sales date announced shortly after. Mid march and shipping will be shortly there after.

For those looking for a list, I do not have a count or list as of yet until i go thru my storage. sorry not sorry… 🤷‍♂️😂 I have been busy with my master Gardner course🌱, dividing for others 🥔✂️working and of course being Edith’s dad 💚
Orders will go thru my webpage .com

These are just the first few, Sandia Bertha, Wyn’s Farmer Walt, Lee’s Beech glow, and Seattle. All decent tuber producers for me from cuttings 💪🌱🌱🌱

I haven’t posted much since hitting our winter’s sleep period. Everyone is nestled away for winter and I have been focusing my flower energy on my breeding goals and research during this time.

My main breeding focus currently are, waterlily and A&AA forms of dahlias, zinnias (doubles ideally) in muted blush and ombre color palettes, and highly scented sweet peas, dream would be to bring another yellow sweet pea to market! 🤞 I’m growing out my first round of hand crossed zinnia over winter and hope to be planting my own line by midsummer this next year 🤞

I’ll be starting my WSU Master Gardener course here in a couple of weeks and really looking forward to that!

If you have interest in breeding dahlias (or sweet peas) this podcast was suggested to me from Stephen Boley it is featuring Dr. Keith Hammet, and is worthy of a listen, or a few times!

These crates full of tuber clumps are almost all from cuttings this year! Not all plants grow or produce tubers equally, my personal take from this year digging at my place and a few other farms local to me is… it’s all about the variety and planting depth… European varieties seems to be skimpy, slender tuber producers in general, KA’s, though beautiful, are very hit and miss for me, most of my PNW bred blooms tend to be the standouts and really produce the best blooms and tubers.
