Hi friends! I just wanted to hop on and share what I’m currently working on because, tbh, I’m the WORST at actually doing that.
When I became an auntie 11 years ago, I decided I wanted to write and illustrate a children’s book. Why? Well...why not?
Naturally, I never actually got around to it because, well, I’m me. But now that my youngest niece is in kindergarten, I realized it’s probably time I finally make it happen.
Then came the question: what the hell do I write about? I wanted it to be something a little different from everything else you’ll find on the shelf, but still something really meaningful to me. And then several customers suggested the exact same thing: Write a children’s book about my crazy lil hoodrat. So, A Cat Named Dolly was born.
I’ve actually had the story written in my Notes app for months now. I went back and forth for a LONG time on whether I should make it sweet and wholesome or go full Go the F**k to Sleep style, but since all my littles have developed brains now, I decided to keep this one PG. No promises for book #2, though.
So anyway...here are the front and back covers!
I’m mostly sharing this for accountability so I actually FINISH the damn thing instead of letting it live half-done on my computer. I’m about an eighth of the way through the illustrations now, and my goal is to have the whole thing finished before Christmas.
So here’s me officially putting it out into the universe: I’m writing and illustrating a children’s book. About Dolly Purrton. And now that I’ve told all of you, I actually have to finish it.
