Interior designer says this Minneapolis neighborhood strikes a beautiful balance between creative energy and a strong sense of community. “I love how the area embraces art and architecture—it creates a natural foundation for a family home that’s expressive yet grounded,” she explains. “It’s the kind of place where thoughtful design feels right at home.”

A reminder that the most impactful spaces
aren’t made from one bold move—it’s the accumulation of hundreds of small, thoughtful decisions.

The way everything speaks to each other.

We’ve been quietly building something to share that thought process with you.

Soon.

Not minimal. Not maximal. Just layered.

Glaze variation, visible grain, expressive stone — the kind of details that make a room feel alive.

Color Me Scandi, but make it a mudroom.

Warm wood millwork, a blue that feels like fresh air, and a hit of pattern that keeps things playful. Practical storage meets a little joy — because even the hardest-working spaces deserve color, craft, and character.

Color Me Scandi Project:

Minneapolis, Minnesota – Art-Forward Family Home – Scandinavian Framework with Expressive Use of Color

Designed for a family with a deep appreciation for art, architecture, and cultural storytelling, this Minneapolis home became a true collaboration rooted in shared curiosity and creative dialogue. Rather than defaulting to a restrained Scandinavian palette, the project explores color at its fullest—layered, nuanced, and intentional—while remaining grounded in clean lines, natural materials, and thoughtful restraint. Each space was approached as a composition, allowing color to hold emotion and meaning without overpowering the architecture or the clients’ curated art collection. Soft neutrals and warm woods create balance and continuity, giving vibrant hues room to breathe and evolve throughout the home. The result is a livable, art-forward residence that feels both sophisticated and deeply personal—an elevated dialogue between Scandinavian simplicity, color, and everyday family life.

A look inside the primary bathroom at tucked into the woods of Marine on St. Croix, MN— warm oak, handmade tile, and a moody green stone like mossy riverbeds — all layered together to echo what’s right outside our windows.

These are the kinds of rooms that make everyday routines feel grounding. A little cozy. A little romantic. A little bit like the St. Croix Valley, brought indoors. 🤎

Beautiful Cotto Allende tiles from , timeless Modelle gold fixtures from , vintage-inspired lighting from , and local pottery from help shape the character of this space. 📷
