"It is with a mixture of gratitude and excitement that I share an important announcement regarding the future of Baysinger Architects.

After many years of dedicated service to our clients and the growth of Baysinger Architects, Michael Baysinger has decided to retire.

Throughout his career, Michael has grown and developed Baysinger Architects into a successful firm committed to quality work and strong client relationships. He has helped establish our firm as one of the leading architecture practices in the region. We sincerely appreciate his work over the years and wish him all the best as he begins this next chapter.

As Michael leaves the firm and begins his retirement, I am honored and excited that he has trusted me to carry the torch as the new Owner of Baysinger Architects.

I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this exceptional organization into its next chapter. Baysinger Architects has earned a reputation for outstanding service, innovative design, and lasting client partnerships. I am committed to building upon that success while pursuing new opportunities for growth and advancement.

Join us in congratulating Mr. Robert Blaydes on officially becoming a Licensed Architect in the State of Illinois! 🎉🎉

Last month, Robert, a Southern Illinois University Carbondale graduate with a Master’s in Architectural Studies, took his final NCARB exam, passed, and officially received his license.

And because Robert clearly understands good timing, he followed that milestone with a three-week trip abroad, part celebration, part well-earned reset, and most importantly, his honeymoon with his new wife. We can’t think of a better way to celebrate such a huge accomplishment.

He’s back, refreshed, and hopefully inspired. Congratulations, Robert! It has truly been an honor to cheer you on, and an even greater honor to be part of your story. We’re grateful for the talent, dedication, and perspective you bring to Baysinger, and we can’t wait to see the spaces you design and the impact you make. 🌟🧡

Meet Mike.

Mike Staub is not only one of our most experienced licensed architects, but he also leads the O’Fallon office as Baysinger Architects’ Metro East Regional Manager. Since joining the team in 2023, Mike has brought more than 26 years of architectural experience, with much of his career focused on public sector work, especially K-12 education.

When it comes to his role, Mike puts it best: “Anything and everything that needs to be done. No task too small or too big.” And that couldn’t be more true. No matter his title or years of experience, Mike consistently steps in wherever he’s needed, always with a steady mindset and without hesitation.

While Mike may come across as quiet, there’s a great sense of humor just under the surface. He’s the kind of person who would pull off the perfect prank and quietly enjoy the moment from the sidelines, with just the slightest grin. No one the wiser.
Outside the office, Mike enjoys spending time outdoors, grilling, being on his pond, and relaxing with his dog. He also recently became a grandfather, a role he clearly takes great pride in.

We’re incredibly grateful to have Mike on our team. His experience, reliability, and willingness to jump in wherever needed make a lasting impact every day. He may be quiet, but we are loud about our appreciation for him. 🧡💙

Monday Project Spotlight🌟

Today we’re featuring a recent project at Millstadt Consolidated Schools, a beautiful new track and vibrant green soccer field!

What was once a large open field with a drainage ditch has been transformed into a space built for athletics, teamwork, and community pride. The school had a vision for how this space could better serve their students, and it’s exciting to see that vision come to life.

Thank you to Byrne & Jones Construction for the great aerial photo, and even more for their role in bringing this project to reality!

The Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois in Marion will be conducting a Full-Scale Exercise on Saturday, May 30th, 2026 from 1pm to 4 pm.

This exercise is to test the Airport’s Emergency Plan and Response to a simulated airplane crash. You will see various emergency response vehicles on the airfield and in the surrounding areas.

This is an EXERCISE and not a real emergency event.

Please do not report the EXERCISE as an emergency on social media or notify 911.

Jonesboro CCSD #43 is getting a roof replacement this week! With today’s high in Jonesboro reaching 83°F, it might feel like the perfect pool day, but for construction crews and our site observers, it means an early start. Work is kicking off at 6 AM to help beat the heat.

If you are, or know, someone working in construction or spending long hours outdoors, please encourage them to take safety seriously. Staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks, wearing light, breathable clothing, and scheduling work outside peak sun hours (11 AM – 4 PM) can make all the difference. Hats and protective gear are essential when working in the sun for extended periods.

Stay safe out there and take care of one another! ☀️👷‍♂️

We’re so happy to be a sponsor of such an amazing event for our kiddos at Unity Christian school in Herrin, IL!

Engineers truly are the jelly to our peanut butter. Architects and engineers work hand-in-hand every day, without engineering expertise, we wouldn’t always know if our designs are feasible or how to bring them to life.

And sometimes, the best architects and engineers are kids. Their imaginations have no limits, anything is possible. When we encourage that creativity, give them the right tools, and support the development of those early engineering skills, we help them unlock their potential at a young age. They begin to see the world of engineering all around them.

These kids are the future of our roads, bridges, plumbing, electricity, and so much more. They will literally help shape the foundation of our communities. Imagine if they can start discovering that passion now, when learning is fun and curiosity leads the way.

Programs like this make a huge difference. Let’s continue to support our schools, STEM education, and the next generation of innovators.

Does your child love hands-on learning, building, and creative problem-solving? This summer, we invite them to join us for our next Discovery Morning- Engineering on Saturday, July 25 from 8:30 AM–Noon at Unity Christian School! Whether your student dreams of designing structures, inventing solutions, or simply loves hands-on learning, this is a memorable experience they won’t want to miss!

This exciting one-day, hands-on academic enrichment experience designed for students ages 3-14 will be led by local engineers and SIU engineering students. Students will be grouped by grade level and work in teams as they explore age-appropriate engineering concepts through interactive challenges designed to spark creativity, teamwork, and critical thinking.
