Not everything you see on the internet is real… Always check with your local garden center and never fall for anything that says “can only be grown from seed - purchase online here” 😬

How to spot AI plants online:
🚨 If it looks too good to be true… it probably is. Rainbow hostas, butterfly blooms, and plants with faces just don’t exist.
🚨 The color looks unreal. Plants rarely grow in neon blues, glowing purples, rainbow petals or metallic colors. If the color looks like it belongs in a highlighter pack, it’s AI.
🚨 The flowers don’t make botanical sense. Examples: petals merging together, leaves growing out of flowers, stems that twist unnaturally, and impossible symmetry.
🚨 Every flower looks identical. In real life, flowers have variation.
🚨 The plant has no name. Examples: “rare rainbow rose tree,” “blue strawberry vine,” “black orchid vine seeds”

Tip: Always buy plants and seeds from reputable garden centers, nurseries or trusted seed companies. Unfortunately, if these “seeds you can only buy online” pop up on a Facebook ad, it’s a scam. Real plants may not always look perfect, but they’re real. 🌱

Season 2 is here! 🌱

Jordan, Katie, and Phil are back to kick off a brand-new season of The Garden Dirt, and we’re digging straight into one of the most common (and confusing) topics in landscaping: pruning. In this episode, we break down when and how to prune trees, shrubs, and perennials so you’re not accidentally cutting off this year’s blooms.

We also get into the five main types of hydrangeas - including paniculata, macropylla, arborescens, oak leaf & mountain - and why knowing exactly which type you have makes all the difference when it comes to pruning and bloom success.

Plus, we share what we’re most excited about heading into this year’s landscaping season and the projects we can’t wait to get started on.
