Detroit native, Deandre Givhan, has been a vital part of our team for over nine months. His contributions to Summit are valuable, & we eagerly anticipate celebrating his upcoming one-year milestone (& hopefully more)!

Deandre's unique background demonstrates his strong abilities at Summit. His professional journey began w/ a foundation in skilled trades, having attended Botanical Trade School from 2016-17 at Gerald R. Ford Job Corps, where he earned the Betty Pletcher scholarship award! This is a true testament to his commitment & potential. Carpentry is his trade of choice, holding certifications in scaffolding & siding. Luckily for us, his current path has led him here, & we’re super glad to have him!

He started at Summit doing snow removal. We were so impressed & offered him a role as an Irrigation Install Tech. Deandre begins his days by greeting his colleagues, reviewing job details, loading up materials, & inspecting his truck before heading to the job site. What he enjoys most about his work is "The Finish"—the satisfaction of seeing a project all wrapped up & functioning properly. He says that the ability to listen & execute properly, & being dedicated & accountable, are all essential skills for success in his role.

Deandre describes the Summit team leaders as "professionally sharp." He truly appreciates the chance & opportunity that Summit has provided him. Deandre keeps positive! According to his colleagues, he’s an incredibly hard worker & catches onto new things like it’s a breeze. Personally, I would describe him as having a very kind & genuine soul, & always having a smile to give. 😊 He tries to put family at the forefront of his life.

Outside of work, Deandre is well-rounded & finds enjoyment in various things, including fishing, shooting pool, playing on his chess board, & playing basketball. Beyond his more common pastimes, Deandre has a very unique talent that speaks to his exceptional dexterity & control. He has been gifted w/ a remarkably steady hand. Coupled w/ this, he also has a rare ability to use both hands w/ equal proficiency, making him ambidextrous! This truly sets him apart (& makes me a little bit jealous!).

It's with mixed emotions that we announce Isaac Dunigan, our wonderful Wise Owl Tree Ops Manager, will be leaving us next month. 🩷 After 2 ½ years here, Isaac’s embarking on a new venture to start his own tree service company in the St. Joseph area. We wish him the very best in his new endeavor.

Originally from Jackson, MI, Isaac’s always been a tree hugger! 🌳 He’s dedicated his career to Arboriculture (fancy word for tree care) & working in the Great Outdoors. His deep passion for nature & trees made joining Wise Owl Tree Company a natural fit.

Isaac's core responsibilities include managing crews, sales, & tree risk assessments. The best part of his job? Training, keeping everyone safe, experiencing diverse tree species, & chatting with clients. His secret to success? You gotta love trees, be safe, have people skills, and, well, know your trees. He wants clients to know that we pride ourselves in delivering honest, knowledgeable, & safe tree care.

Isaac describes his team as good-spirited, hard-working, & eager to learn. He appreciates Summit/Wise Owl's way of finding suitable roles for employees to thrive in. His career highlights include attending conferences with "continuing education credits" (translation: fancy naps!! 💤), becoming a CPR instructor, & heading the Safety Committee.

When not at work, Isaac likes to chill out by camping, drawing, listening to music, swimming, kayaking, & long-boarding. He's got a hidden talent in creating impressive art. He once lived in a one-room cabin in Washington for two years! His kitchen & bathroom were outdoors! (Whaaaat?!) He also built rustic furniture.

Isaac, an admitted introvert, would logically choose invisibility as his superpower. He unwinds by playing with his adorable puppy, Scout. 🐶 He has a deep appreciation for meaningful stories & soulful music, with "The Alchemist" being his favorite book, & Gregory Alan Isakov being his favorite musician. When it comes to travel, Ireland holds a special place in his heart. He finds inspiration in Buddha's quote: "You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection."

Brad Hoyle, a Comstock Park native, has been a key player at Summit Landscape team for 10 ½ years. Holding an Associate's degree in Architectural Design (GRCC), Brad adds knowledge & creativity to his role in Landscape Sales/Design.

A typical work day for Brad involves teaming up w/clients to understand their landscape needs, & then designing a quote to bring their visions to life. Brad enjoys designing captivating landscapes, collaborating w/clients, & creating impressive hardscapes from conception to completion. Brad stresses that success in this field hinges on patience, creativity, and a willingness to evolve & adapt. He wants people to know that Summit is capable of tackling nearly anything the great outdoors throws their way!

Brad describes his team as well-rounded, easy to work with, & knowledgeable. He appreciates the creative freedom, the open-door policy, the family-like culture, & the growth opportunities Summit offers. Brad has climbed the ranks, from tech to foreman, to mid-management, to being the sales guru he is today.

Brad advises industry newcomers to learn, research, and master their craft from their experienced colleagues.

When he's not busy being awesome at work, Brad's probably out crushing it on the golf course, hangin’ with his family, camping, or hunting. Brad also enjoys unwinding with a good game of Memory with his daughters. He gains inspiration from the quote, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t slow down once in a while, you could miss it."

Here are some lesser-known facts about Brad: He's a secret master of rubber band tricks. Being a frequent audience member myself, I can surely vouch for his nimble, ninja-like dexterity. Another trick up his sleeve? Brad’s pretty much unbeatable at any yard game you bring his way. And if that wasn't enough? Brad plays hockey left-handed! If granted a superpower, he’d opt for invisibility or flight, just to get a different perspective on the world.

Brad's devotion to the Detroit Lions runs deep - a true Michigander through & through. When he's not cheering on his team, you might catch him quoting lines from "Forrest Gump" or humming along to The Beatles' iconic "White Album."
