In the year 1953, my father, Richard C. Dittmer, started Hollywood Floorsanding Company. It has been a family owned and operated business, in the truest sense, since then. All of my 8 brothers and sisters grew up learning some aspect of the trade. We were taught the satisfaction and value of hard work. As time went on and brothers and sisters moved on to other pastures, I was fortunate to work alo

ngside my father until his retirement. Even then, he would come out on jobs with me and make sure I was living up to the quality craftsmanship and reputation that Hollywood Floorsanding Company had become synonymous with. In the 60 plus years of existence, the work of Hollywood Floorsanding Company has been seen and appreciated in apartment buildings and homes in Chicago to small farm houses in Grand Ridge and Marseilles, from the Morton Arboretum to Starved Rock Lodge and Cabins, from historical Victorian homes in Princeton to first time homeowners in Bloomington, and school gymnasiums and classrooms all over the area. The blue colors on the floor in the last photo are a reflection from the window on the wet polyurethane.
