September is here, and we’re officially in our favorite planting season, the Brr Months.
Any month that ends in “-ber” is a good month to be planting here in Zone 7, and honestly, we’ll take fall planting over spring most years. The soil is still warm, the air is cooler, and newly planted trees, shrubs, and perennials have months to settle in and build roots without the stress of summer heat.
It’s also a great time to plant natives. If you’ve been thinking about adding a pollinator garden, expanding your native plantings, planting a new tree or shrub, or filling in those perennial beds, fall gives plants a great head start before winter.
And with fewer pest problems and gentler growing conditions, fall gardening can be a whole lot more enjoyable, too.
We’ve got lots of native plants, perennials, trees, shrubs, and fall planting favorites ready to go at the nursery, with more arriving throughout the season.
