Fun job that turned out beautiful!! I designed and then redesigned this piece. Lots of detail went in to this job. All Douglas fir on the large timbers and handrails. Grey stained Pine on the decking, treads and joists. 4x12 beams were recessed in the 8x8 posts before through bolting. Joist are hung in routered slots recessed in the beam before being lagged in. Hidden screws on the decking. Most wood was pre stained before being cut.

The difference in #1 is shown in the picture. Notice the tighter more obvious straight grain and lack of knotholes. This straight, tight grain #1 doesn’t twist, warp and split like #2 lumber is prone to.
