🌿❄️ Meet the plant that looks like it was painted on frosted glass… introducing Frozen Queen Calla Lily! ❄️🌿
This stunning beauty is turning heads in the greenhouse with its unbelievably unique foliage. The leaves have an almost translucent, “frozen” appearance with soft pink blush tones and deep green edges that make it look like something straight out of a fairytale greenhouse. ✨
Unlike traditional calla lilies grown mainly for blooms, Frozen Queen is a showstopper even without flowers. It’s the kind of plant that makes people stop mid-walk and go, “Wait…is that REAL?” 👑
🪴 Perfect for: • Bright indoor spaces
• Shaded patio containers
• Houseplant collectors
• Anyone obsessed with unusual foliage
☀️ Loves bright light, but avoid harsh afternoon sun. Frozen Queen prefers part shade or protection from the hottest part of the day to keep those gorgeous leaves looking their best.
💧 Keep evenly moist but not soggy
🌡️ Loves warmth and humidity
We are absolutely obsessed with this one. The leaves look almost hand-painted with ice and watercolor. 🌬️🎨
Come see Frozen Queen in person at The Plant House before she disappears into someone’s plant collection castle. 🏰🌿

🌲 Native Evergreens Worth Knowing About 🌲

Evergreens bring structure, privacy, wildlife habitat, and winter color to the landscape year-round… but not all evergreens are created equal! In today’s video I’m highlighting some favorite varieties and where they shine best in the landscape. 👇

🌿 Techny Arborvitae
Thuja occidentalis ‘Techny’
Excellent cold-hardy privacy screen with a classic upright form.

🌿 North Pole Arborvitae
Thuja occidentalis ‘Art Boe’
Tall and narrow, making it perfect for tight spaces and vertical accents.

🌿 Taylor Juniper
Juniperus virginiana ‘Taylor’
A native eastern red cedar selection with a super slender, formal shape.

🌿 Fire Chief Arborvitae
Thuja occidentalis ‘Congabe’
Compact globe evergreen with bright golden-orange winter color.

🌿 Emerald Green Arborvitae
Thuja occidentalis ‘Smaragd’
One of the most popular screening evergreens thanks to its rich green color and tidy habit.

🌿 Green Giant Arborvitae
Thuja standishii × plicata ‘Green Giant’
Fast-growing privacy tree that quickly creates a living wall.

🌿 Eastern White Pine
Pinus strobus
Soft needles, graceful texture, and a fantastic native tree for larger spaces.

🌿 Fat Albert Blue Spruce
Picea pungens ‘Fat Albert’
Bold blue color and classic Christmas-tree shape that stands out all year long.

Evergreens may not always steal the spotlight in summer… but come January, they’re the heroes of the landscape. 🌲❄️

🇺🇸🌿 RED, WHITE & BLOOM: THE COMBOS ❤️🤍💙
We’ve celebrated the reds.
We’ve admired the whites.
We’ve hunted down those elusive blues.
Now it’s time for the grand finale… the combinations. 🇺🇸✨
There’s just something magical about a red, white, and blue planter spilling over a porch or brightening up a patio in summertime. It feels like backyard cookouts, fireworks in the distance, lemonade on the deck, and summer evenings that stretch on forever. ☀️🎆
The best part? These combos aren’t just patriotic for the holiday weekend. They’re designed to thrive and look beautiful all season long with colors that complement and balance each other naturally.
In today’s video, we’re featuring some of our favorite red, white, and blue combinations using annuals that bring:
🌿 Bold color
🌿 Texture and movement
🌿 Trailing spillers
🌿 Pollinator appeal
🌿 Season-long performance
Whether you want something classic Americana, soft cottage charm, or a combo that absolutely shouts “summer celebration,” we’ve got inspiration waiting for you. ❤️🤍💙

💙🇺🇸 BLUE takes center stage today! 🇺🇸💙

We’ve covered the bold reds and the crisp whites… now it’s time for the cool tones that tie everything together beautifully. ✨

Today’s feature video is all about our favorite BLUE annuals and combinations! From bright sky blues to deep indigo shades, these blooms bring a calming, refreshing feel to containers, landscapes, and porch pots all summer long. 🌿💐

One of the fun things about gardening? True blue flowers are actually pretty rare in nature! Because of that, many plants use rich violet, lavender, and purple tones to help create that classic “blue garden” look we all love. And honestly… some of those blue-purple shades absolutely glow in the sunlight. 💙💜

In today’s video we’re highlighting annuals that:
💙 Pair beautifully with patriotic combos
💙 Add cooling contrast to bright summer colors
💙 Help containers feel full, lush, and balanced
💙 Bring those dreamy blue and purple tones gardeners hunt for every year

If red is the fireworks and white is the sparkle… blue is the calm summer evening sky holding it all together. 🌌🇺🇸
