Denise Scott Brown (1931–Present) is an influential architect, planner, and theorist who has helped shape modern design thinking. A passionate advocate for women in the field, she has consistently challenged barriers and biases within the profession while contributing groundbreaking ideas about urban design and the social and cultural impact of architecture.

Women’s History Month: Influential Architects

Minerva Parker Nichols (1862–1949) made history as America’s first independent woman architect. Working in the late 19th century, she designed dozens of buildings while challenging the barriers placed on women in her field. At a time when women weren’t even allowed in most architectural offices, she opened her own. Designing homes, schools, and churches, she built more than structures, she built opportunity, representation, and space for women in the profession.

Women’s History Month: Influential Architects

Today, we’re highlighting Maya Lin (1959–Present), the Ohio-born architect and designer best known for designing the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Selected for the project while still a college student, Lin’s powerful and minimalist design redefined how we experience memorial architecture. Her work thoughtfully blends landscape, art, and architecture to create spaces that evoke reflection, connection, and meaning.

From advanced manufacturing tools to creative production equipment, each area is thoughtfully organized to support safety, efficiency, and hands-on discovery.
