Here is a 1924 Singer model 127 I restored to like new condition. And here are some additional details to go along with the video. I replaced the top part of the cabinet that had the veneer pealing and the lower drip pan due to sever water damage. I was able to repair the drawers that was separating and coming apart. The light color was the original color I found between sections when I had disassembled the cabinet. The machine itself was restored due to the clear coat turning to powder and sections of the decals were missing on part of the bed. It took me a couple months and a lot of hours. but the finished product has been well worth it. "It Sews Again"

Over the Thanksgiving holiday I had time to work on a 1950's Singer model 20-10. This is a modernized version of the origin Sewhandy. It's made of cast aluminum instead of steel. And sews a single thread chain stitch.

So I have been working on this sewing machine case for several months now. Off and On. And to tell you the truth it turned into a much bigger project then I thought it would be. It has been very time consuming. And I don't plan on doing any more soon. It is a fairly common case for the smaller model 99, or the 128s. Singer also made them for the full size machines as a portable as well. The original case is wood covered in a vinyl and tweed material. but seeing how tweed isn't readily available I used a muslin fabric instead.

I saw this machine on line and liked the case. It is a little different then most bentwood cases. so I made a bid and got it cheep. The machine had a makeshift motor and light attached. And not much to look at. The decals were worn off and the paint chipped everywhere. So I checked the serial number data base and found out the machine was built in 1892 and the model is a VS3 (vibrating shuttle). This is the oldest machine I have worked on so I decided to restore the machine and the case. Attached pics are the results from beginning to end.

I took on a very ambitious job for a family friend recently. This time I not only restored the sewing machine I also did the cabinet as well. The machine was marketed as a Vindex Special and manufactured by the National Sewing Machine Co. After a little research and components, I estimate the unit to be 1924-1925. The owner requested that I save the original decals as much as possible considering the condition of the machine finish. It wasn't easy but I am pleased with the results.

I picked up this Singer 1926 model 99 for a good price. it has some issues but overall a good deal. It even came with a surprise when I lifted the machine back to check the underside.

Took some time this weekend to clean up another Singer Model 20. not sure on the mfg dates on this one. The configuration is a 1914-1922. But it has a 8 spoke hand wheel and the base is not drilled for the felt plate which was standard.

This is a 1918 Singer model 66. I was going to strip it down and repaint due to the clear coat was coming off. I did disassemble the machine completely. But seeing how that I was going to strip off the paint I decided to try and see if there was any hope in saving the original decals and finish. I am very pleased with the end results.

Brad brought in this 1925 Singer 99 for a little touch up. When I first saw it I was not sure if I could get it to shine. The surface had a egg shell type finish.
