A tree can look “fine” until it suddenly isn’t. Here are some warning signs homeowners should never ignore:

• Dead or falling branches
• Cracks or splits in the trunk
• Hollow spots or cavities
• Mushrooms/fungus growing at the base
• Peeling or missing bark
• Large limbs hanging over the home
• Leaning suddenly or more than usual
• Soft, rotting wood
• Sparse leaves during growing season
• Branches with no buds or new growth
• Roots lifting from the ground
• Storm damage that weakened the structure
