You can see from the photos what wind can do to your shingles. The edges get lifted, the nail pulls through the shingle, and the stress pulls the next shingle, etc., etc., etc. all the way up the roof. The repair on this roof was done by another roofer prior to our inspection.
Another type of damage from wind occurs with the tabs flipping up and eventually breaking off. We don't recommend a 3-tab shingle for this reason. It is only warranted against wind gusts up to 60 mph.
The laminated shingle has a wind rating of 110. Dallas regularly gets 40-50 mph winds in the spring and fall.
