Since at least the Qing Dynasty, Yuekou locksmiths in China have been famous for their barbed-spring padlocks. We don’t see them much in Hanover, but this one was no match for our locksmiths to open.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! Today is the last day of school for most kids in the area. While the students are away, the locksmiths will… well, not play. We’ll repair doors and update security and locks (like these Schlage classroom locks!) so everyone can stay safe when they return in the fall.

Meet Al Tucker, the owner of Dominion Lock and Security! He’s been fixing locks and making keys right here in Hanover since 1977. He got his start with his dad, Johnny Tucker, who started the company. The industry has changed a bit in all that time, moving from physical keys to electronic systems. Today, you can control your security equipment from an app on your phone!

If you’ve spent any time in Hanover, you’ve almost certainly used a door or security system Al or one of his team installed. Businesses, private homes, and public services – they’ve fitted locks to them all! Al particularly likes the jobs that seem impossible and need a little extra creativity. He credits his team for making the company what it is and takes great pride. They’ve been securing the heart of the Hanover community for fifty years!
