It was bitter sweet waking up to our first frost. I can’t thank you all enough for supporting and appreciating the blooms this season.

More trialing dahlias.

When you cut them from the plant and bring them all together it’s almost too beautiful for one to handle.

Some close ups of all those new varieties I’m trialing. I’m looking for a 7 day vase life to make it a good cut flower. Other things I consider besides the overall beauty are stem length, stem strength and overall floriferous-ness of the plant. If you feel a strong desire for any that I’m showing here make a comment under the photo. 😉.

I forgot to notify my online followers here that the garden is open! (And has been for the last month 😬)
I’m emptying my camera roll from the last 12 hrs of flower pictures I keep taking so you can get an idea of what you’ll find.
The garden has had its ups and downs this year but currently it’s looking beautiful. Plenty of fresh blooms to choose from.
Come most anytime. Occasionally I’m out of the house dropping kids off at lessons and what not.

$2 per stem $3 for dahlias and lisianthus.

Also, one last side note, I have an eletric fence put up around the garden. It’s turned off by 8am (sometimes earlier) and then on again once the suns gone down. This is to keep the deer and rabbits out.

Snapdragons! For those who are eager to get their flower fix come. We can call it a soft opening. The other crops just aren’t ready yet due to all of this rain and cooler temperatures.
Come in the morning say 8-11 or later in the evening after 6.
My road sign isn’t out yet. Park in the lawn up by the garden. 👍

Welcome back to Friends of Blooms on Brockton!
Mandy, Travis, and their girls have been working soooooo hard on getting ready for their 3rd season of their the cutting garden.
Hi! I’m Mandy’s mom Sue, and I’m helping out a little by making this post as they are insanely busy. People have been asking about if the garden will be back and the answer is most emphatically YES!!
Here’s a sneak peak in the behind-the-scene goings on. As last season came to a close, Mandy had to dig like a thousand dahlia tubers and get them all properly stored. She spent the winter researching more flowers and peeling through records to choose the seeds. Mandy is obsessed with choosing varieties with the right colors and combinations with high quality blooms with long vase-life. After ordering SO many seeds, suddenly the whole house sprung into a production facility for germinating seeds and growing young plants. Travis is amazing at implementing systems for watering, feeding, keeping the weeds at bay, and installing all the structural supports. Once spring came, he heads right out, every day from his job to the field, for hours of bed preparation. But now, with help from the girls too, and somehow between all rain, most all the plants are in and off to a great start! Enjoy the photos and check back for updates.
