I also completed some custom pieces. A large cutting board for a customer. Also 2 quilt racks done for my Aunt Vicki for her daughters, Megan and Sarah's birthdays. Thank you all for allowing me to create these and do what I love. As usual, Kilt It Woodworx on to the next.

It's been a while since I posted but I haven't been idle. Starting with a short vacation to Tennessee and Georgia at the beginning of March. Then welcoming our 1st Granddaughter, Elena, to the family on March 13th. I have been working on a few refinishing and revival projects. 1st up refinishing my daughter, Paige's, old rocking horse. Then a hope chest my Dad made. And then a side table that was my Grandma Arlene's. And finally a 120+ year old high chair from my Mom's side of the family. Only having to replace the interior part of the tray. Otherwise this chair is still rock solid. I added a few before and after pics.

Worked up a couple prototypes. These are Danish whisks (also known as dough whisk). These are of walnut and cherry. A little fine tuning on the process. It would be a nice addition to any kitchen. More finished products coming after they are picked up by customers. Always designing and trying new things. I also have some new project ideas in the works and lots of practicing with new tools and new processes of making items. More precision and fine detail work is what I strive for. It is not about quantity of items made. It is always about quality. This is taken from my Mom and Dad and the generations of woodworkers that came from both sides of the family. If you're going to make something make it to last. With that said, back to work here at Kilt It Woodworx.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Now I can finally show you the gifts made for people. Starting out with personalized serving tray with laser engraved names. Then an outdoor family sign with vinyl lettering. And for my Great Nephew Graham a kid's Adirondack chair with legrest and laser engraved name. I hope these items bring as much joy to the recipients as it did designing and making them brought me. On to the next for Kilt It Woodworx.

Just a quick update. Things have been busy in the shop the last few weeks, while also making time to get some deer hunting in. I will be posting some of these projects after Christmas. Don't want to ruin anyone's surprises. I hope everyone has a great holiday season. Now back to work.

A fun project to break up the other projects i have been working on. My Aunt Vicki Malson sent me a text if we might be interested in this secretary. We said absolutely. With a little cleaning and repair over the weekend along with some different handles to give it a little extra pop. Still have 1 lock guard for the door to add when it comes. Amazed we found 1 that matched on line. 1st two pictures are before the last three are after. Love finding unique and antique knows, handles and pulls. Never know when the right project will come along. Love bringing new life to an antique piece that just needs a little help. But also keep it's original beauty. Love working on these antique pieces and seeing how these craftsman put them together and admiring their work. Kilt It Woodworx, on to the next.
Update. After a bit more research this piece dates back to 1900 to 1915.

Glad to have created this for a friend. A mount for the moose Alan Spors got in Alberta, Canada last year. 1st thing was to find native trees of Alberta. Much like here, so used ash for the Alberta shaped backplate. Wanted to do something different from the same old leather covered skull plate. Used flame red box elder for the covering. The idea concept was a tree growing around an old set of antlers. So I used the flame red box elder in the center surrounded by the moss covered bark. Added a few grape vines for accent. Also added a special honor to Al's late father's, since it was shot on his Dad's birthday. Glad you like it Al and thank you for allowing me to do this and trusting my design ideas. Kilt It Woodworx, on to the next.
