Summer’s here and the pools are finally open! 😎☀️
Whether you’re splashing around at home or heading out on vacation, it’s a great time to make sure your family stays safe around the water.
If you’ve got a pool at home, a proper fence is one of the best ways to help prevent accidents. A few quick reminders:
🔒 Fences should be at least 4 feet tall (some areas require 5).
🚫 No gaps or footholds kids could climb on.
🚪 Gates should self-close and self-latch.
🛑 Latches should be out of reach of little hands.
And don’t forget—when you’re booking a hotel or Airbnb, make sure their pool area is fenced, too. It’s an easy detail to overlook, but it makes a big difference in safety.

Commercial gates often require special hardware to ensure fire department access during emergencies. These safety measures allow first responders to get on site quickly when every second counts. While specific rules vary by location, Knox Boxes or Vaults are a common solution.

These secure boxes hold keys or access devices that only the fire department can open, allowing them to unlock gates and other secured areas without delay. Make sure your emergency access hardware is up to code and ready to protect lives and property.
