Robinson Design Company

Robinson Design Company Robinson Design Company has been turning houses into homes in the Mid-South since 2003. And yes, Julie’s talents spread beyond the home’s interior.

Owner Julie Robinson brings nearly 35 years of experience in home improvement and real estate to every project, ensuring the right fit for each client. About the Owner, Julie Robinson

Starting in her early twenties, Julie discovered her knack and talent for home improvement. That knack and talent turned into a part time hobby, and that part time hobby turned into a fully fledged career. Over

the years, Julie has been a partner in several different home renovation endeavors. But in 2004, she decided it was time to jumpstart her own company, and Robinson Restoration was born. Since then, the company has evolved and Julie and the rest of the team have tackled projects large and small. Whether it’s a master suite addition, an updated kitchen, or just a fresh coat of paint, the Robinson Restoration and Design team is well equipped to ensure that homeowner’s dreams become a reality. Robinson Restoration and Design has completed a variety of exterior projects including roofing, façade, and landscape design needs. If you know someone who’s looking to reimagine their “curb appeal” or take back the title of “Best House on the Block,” Julie and the team are ready when you are. When Julie’s not on the job site, she’s back at the desk, working as a licensed real estate agent. There, she keeps herself updated on the latest market trends and is ready to prepare homeowners for their upcoming listing or their new purchase. Julie knows what it means to have a house “market ready.” So, whether you’re thinking about selling, have questions about staging your home, or you’re curious about the return on your investment, Julie can help with that, too. At the end of the day, it’s not about hiring a designer with the best taste or the best ideas. It’s about hiring a designer who knows how to listen to the client. That’s what we do at Robinson Restoration and Design. We listen to your wants and needs as a homeowner, and help you take the steps needed to get the best finished product. If you have questions along the way, Julie has years of experience and she’s absolutely there to help make design choices. But, when the project is completed, it’s the client’s style and personality that shines through.

Robinson Design Company breathed new life into this kitchen with all-new finishes and an updated floor plan that's perfect for gathering with family and guests. The biggest change? Repositioning an oversized island to separate the room into two distinct spaces: a prep area where major appliances are located and an entertaining thoroughfare outfitted with a wet bar and plenty of seating.

This kitchen is a great blend of clean contemporary design elements with a touch of traditional. Throw in a few bits of southern charm and you’ve got a wonderful place to gather with family and friends. The client knew they wanted clean white quartz counters and subway backsplash, but were open to budget-friendly suggestions for warming things up and giving it a special touch. Together we made some great selections along the way. Read more about the process below!

Relocating the fridge improved sight lines and flow to the adjoining living room and made space for a cozy breakfast bar or serving area. A small display bookcase was nestled on the left side of the bar to keep people from sitting in the doorway — or beneath an upper cabinet! Removing the double ovens and incorporating a slide-in range meant the microwave could be housed in its own cabinet. This allowed for a feature vent hood in a custom shiplap treatment to take center stage and break things up a bit. To give the cabinetry a tailored look, taller boxes and crown molding took the uppers all the way to the fur down while finished panels capped the ends. Speaking of fur downs — if you have to keep them, consider wrapping them in your wall color instead of painting the bottoms your ceiling color. It’s an easy way to visually minimize them!

Fun Fact: For many of our projects, we definitely aren’t able to “start from scratch” — there are always specific parameters that lead to some strategic choices. In this case, the upper fur down had to remain where it was, doorways couldn’t be shifted, no major plumbing rearrangements… things you almost forget about when looking at the final product. Those savvy layout choices that still give the client everything they want are part of what makes projects like this so satisfying!

Robinson Design Company brought functionality and space to this relaxing master bathroom. The original room lacked style and storage, but now the homeowner can enjoy an oversized shower, soaker tub and walk-in closet. The patterned grey floor tile wraps around the shower walls and tub deck to ground the space, while white tumbled marble accent walls echo each other on the upper portions — a combination that adds a bit dimension and softness to the space. With the added touch of some rustic wood elements, the overall vibe in the room is warm and calm — the perfect way to start or end your day.

Wondering about the bump out in the new closet? That space was initially a sitting room off of the foyer. It was closed in and absorbed into the master suite, but the homeowner was still able to keep a small coat closet by the front door. Inside the master closet, the top portion of the bump out was left open so extra items could be stored overhead.

Just sitting here working from my home office and I was thinking! Isn't it crazy to hear you cannot buy meat in the stores and shelves are empty. I think about how many people in our country that don't usually use their kitchens due to crazy schedules, eating most of their meals out or drive through, hence the shelves are empty now. Being the owner of Robinson Design Company, LLC we as a team remodel kitchens all year (along with much more), but so many families after we are completed share they hardly have time to use and enjoy. I hope for all our clients that we have completed so many beautiful kitchens for can fully enjoy being at home and having the time to cook and experiment. Wishing you happy cooking and hope you are able to find your favorite foods at the grocery to prepare for your families!

We take on projects of all sizes at Robinson Design Company — even simple tweaks can have a major impact on your home. These shutters were in need of repair, splitting and separating over the years. Now that things are back in order, the front of this house shines again without the distraction of damaged wood. Just what it needed!

Another customer’s vision is brought to life. Robinson Design Company coupled the client’s taste and materials with space planning insights to amp up the function of this sprawling kitchen. Utilizing the existing tile floor, new custom cabinetry, countertops and backsplash gave the room a bit of much-needed sparkle. Glass doors in the upper cabinets soften the look and provide the perfect spot to display cherished pieces. From the existing island, a larger seating area was built out to accommodate six barstools — with added storage beneath, of course! An oversized fridge was relocated to the opposite wall and trimmed out with custom panels to blend with the cabinetry, surrounded by ample floor-to-ceiling storage.

Robinson Design Company gave this room a bright and airy feeling without sacrificing the lodge-like charm. The new v-groove shiplap on the wall and ceiling adds a bit of textural interest while the fresh white paint keeps the eye focused on the towering stone fireplace. The new cedar mantle coordinates with the beams that now run along the top of the wall. With the paneling gone, the new beams maintain the rustic wood texture without weighing down the space.

While we adore older homes with historic charm, sometimes the smaller room sizes can be limiting. Bathrooms most of all! This efficient remodel gave the new homeowners some much-needed storage space and some style to boot. While initial instincts may lean toward a centered sink, dedicating one portion of your countertop to storage and prep space can give you a lot more flexibility. (It also meant we could couple a smaller sink base cabinet with a drawer stack on one side — a win for sure!) Keeping the tile consistent throughout the flooring and shower area is a simple but effective way to broaden the space visually. As for the finishes, the new glass k**b on the door and wainscoting are a nod to classic style while the quartz countertop and LED bar light offer a touch of contemporary. Opting for a mirror with tilting hardware means the wainscoting can run behind nice and easy — no need to sacrifice mirror size or the height of the paneling!

This warm weather has us thinking back to the holiday season when Robinson Design Company gave this family the open and inviting kitchen they dreamed of. The dining room, now completely open to the kitchen, makes entertaining a breeze and keeps things from feeling overly formal. The wide-plank hardwoods and tall white cabinetry create a classically warm color palette that will age beautifully as trends come and go. New lighting and hardware bring some textural interest to the space and add a bit of rustic charm. Situated right off the front entry, this updated interior is now the perfect place to receive family and friends.

Robinson Design Company tackled two major concerns these homeowners had about their master bathroom: style and function. Walls, doors and small separate spaces made this en suite bath choppy and inefficient. With the new layout and bright modern color scheme, this bathroom feels like it tripled in size. The new spa-like atmosphere is complete with a tub, glass shower enclosure and a wall of custom cabinetry across from the double vanity. With style and storage galore, this space makes morning routines or relaxing evenings a whole lot easier.

Robinson Design Company breathed new life to this unique kitchen by adding custom finishes throughout. Coupling bright whites with soft green for the cabinetry strikes the perfect balance between elegant and casual. The antique brass fixtures and hardware add a touch of luxury while the shiplap and stained wood shelving bring loads of rustic southern charm. The large window in the corner sheds natural light into the nook, a prime spot to feature a piece of art or decor. Anchored by a calm grey tile floor, the kitchen’s new layout is perfect for everyday life or entertaining guests.

Robinson Design Company worked alongside this client to bring their kitchen dreams to life. The goal was a bright, airy space full of soothing neutrals. We love the way the natural light spills into the kitchen through the large window and raised doorways, illuminating the oversized six-seater island. The wood floors, new fixtures and custom Robinson Greige wall color bring a touch of warmth to the revitalized space. In addition to the island, an auxiliary serving area was added across the kitchen, giving the room additional storage and a place to spread out appetizers or drinks when entertaining. A fully customized walk-in pantry was created using butcher block countertops from the homeowner’s previous kitchen. The clean subway tile backsplash and white quartz countertops with subtle gray and copper-tinted veining finish off the design.
