A big THANK YOU to everyone who attended my Spring Garden Success class today! πŸ’š

If you weren't able to make it, I’ll be teaching this class again on Friday, March 27th, from 10:30–11:30 AM at the Boise Flower & Garden Show. πŸŽ‰

This is such an exciting month, filled with longer days, beautiful blooms, and the opportunity to get back into the garden.

I don’t know about you, but I am SO ready to switch to Daylight Saving Time and enjoy more time outdoors after work.

Goodbye winter, hello early spring! 🌱

What garden projects do you have planned for this month?

Spotted more signs of early Spring in Boise this week. 🌞

It felt wonderful to be outside in the sunshine yesterday while pruning my client's grape vine and fruit trees!

While winter is an important time for rest and recovery, I have thoroughly enjoyed the intermittent days of sunshine and mild temperatures so far this year.

And February is officially over after today - woohoo! πŸŽ‰

I couldn't be more excited to shift into March, start Daylight Savings time next weekend, and ramp up the 2026 gardening season. 😎🌱

Have you seen any early signs of spring in your neck of the woods yet?

Last week, I noticed the cute little buds on my nectarine tree were starting to swell.

Which meant it was time for me to break out the loppers, get the ladder, and start pruning!

My 5 primary goals included:

1) Removing all Dead, Diseased, Damaged, and Crossing branches.

2) Bringing all of the branches down to a manageable height that I will be able to easily harvest fruits from.

3) Improving airflow throughout the center and between large branches.

4) Promoting more balanced, even growth throughout the canopy.

5) Removing all invasive grass from around the trunk and checking for signs of pests.

Although I pruned it more than originally anticipated, I'm very satisfied with it's new shape and will be totally fine with a minimal harvest later this year.

This project also confirmed my sneaking suspicion of a relatively new borer infestation near the base of the trunk - which I will continue to monitor and apply treatment as needed.

Later this year, I'll post an update that shows exactly how this heavy pruning affected my tree's overall growth and fruit production. 🌳

My First Official Day of the 2026 Gardening Season was a success! 🌞

This is my third year working for these clients in Meridian. They're a lovely retired couple who enjoy gardening, but just can't physically do it themselves anymore.

I was especially happy to see that the 75+ spring bulbs I planted for them a few months ago are still lying dormant under the soil and haven't tried to prematurely sprout. Hopefully they'll start to come up once March rolls around. 🌷

Today's Maintenance Services included:

βœ…οΈ Pruning all dead clematis vines off of the trellis and cleaning up the base to ensure that it has plenty of airflow once the new growth begins in spring.

βœ…οΈ Trimmed & shaped their boxwoods along the side of their property to give them a more uniform shape and size.

Next Friday, I'm taking a fruit tree pruning course in Emmett and I can't wait to get a hands-on lesson in an actual orchard!

Stay tuned for more gardening updates coming soon. 🌱

My Top 5 Holiday Gifts for Gardeners and Plant Lovers 🎁

5) Garden Tool Bag: I got my garden tool bag from Amazon & have used it consistently all year.

I love the fun, bright pattern, robust elastic bands to keep my tools secure, and it's also really easy to wipe clean!

4) Garden Knife: You can find these at local hardware stores and nurseries, as well as online like Amazon. They are usually called Garden Knives or Hori-Hori Knives.

While I got my Husky-brand garden knife from Home Depot, there are much sharper options available as well that should be treated with extreme caution to prevent injury.

3) Moisture Meter: I got mine on Amazon a few years ago, but have also seen them around town in the local nurseries as well.

This tool is an absolute GAME CHANGER for anyone who struggIes with knowing when to water their plants.

2) Custom Embroidered Beanies: The Green Garden Tool design was created from my love of gardening and crafted for gardeners who appreciate thoughtful, garden-inspired details.

The Winter Woodland beanie design captures my love of the Rocky Mountains and the often-overlooked beauty found in nature’s small moments.

1) 2026 Garden Task Desk Calendar: Back by popular demand and revamped to be better than ever!

Designed for gardeners in Zones 6B/7A, it supports both ornamental and vegetable gardens so you can confidently stay on track all year long.

The first round of spring bulbs are officially in the ground at our new home! 🌷

Today, I planted a mix of daffodils, tulips, regular crocuses, and snow crocuses that will bring a burst of color to the new front garden.

I can already picture those bright blooms welcoming spring next year!

To prep the space, I dug a circular trench about 6.5 inches deep, added a dose of "Bulb Tone" fertilizer, and watered it in.

Then came the fun partβ€”arranging each bulb pointy side up, tucking them in with native soil, and giving them a final drink of water.

Since snow crocuses prefer shallower planting, I layered them on top for a natural staggered effect.

The next round of bulb planting will happen later this week along our driveway.

More updates coming soon. 🌞
