Fire! I believe one of the worst experiences you hope never to experience is fire. When folks come into the showroom looking at safes, I always tell them that a thief will pick and choose where to spend their available time. Fire has one job and one job only. To CONSUME everything.
Unfortunately, in this business, we see it. We have to help and have compassion for them after this horrible experience. Today was one of those days.
This couple contacted me and asked for help. I wanted to get my team out to the house and do what we could. After assessing the job through available photos, I informed them that I was very optimistic about the contents of the safe, having survived! 20 some years ago, these folks made the critical decision to spend the money and buy quality. Not only that, but they also placed the safe strategically within the lower level of their home. This investment, along with critical thinking back then, paid off for them in a big way today!
When I could finally open the safe for them, the husband and wife hugged each other, crying with joy. Then I got some hugs too!!!
I was so happy for them. They lost EVERYTHING except what they locked up in this safe. Photos going back generations. Memories of the life that they have lived and witnessed were perfectly preserved for their future. The contents of this safe are what they will move forward with, forever!
Fire jobs don’t always end this way. Always remember, you get what you pay for! It is part of one of my absolute favorite laws of business balance. It goes like this:
“There is hardly anything in the world that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper, and the people who consider price alone are that person’s lawful prey. It’s unwise to pay too much, but it’s worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money — that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot — it can’t be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that, you will have enough to pay for something better.” ~ John Ruskin.
These folks lost everything, almost. I was glad to be able to put a smile on both of their faces!! I was glad to be able to assist them with our services! I’m especially happy for them that they made the decision to buy quality years ago. The investment that they made then, was priceless today!
You two know who you are. Yes, yes, you are very welcome. Raymond Brandy & my team!
