It All Started With a Rope in Our Hands

What's going on guys! Jeff Chandler here with Seven Peaks Fence and Barn. These are my two brothers, Matt Chandler and a Trevor Chandler and we are the three owners of Seven Peaks Fence and Barn. We are a family owned and operated business as you can tell. We love it. We have so much fun and we love our job. We wanted to do something different today and share with you our story of how we came about as a business and how we ultimately came to producing our continuous Fence panels and our portable panels that we have now. It all started almost 10 years ago. Just to give you guys a little bit of background we are rodeo Cowboys. We love riding, we love training horses. We've all together owned a good hundred horses or so over the last 10 years and are very thankful for the things that we have learned from those experiences. 10 years ago, I would have never guessed that we'd be where we are today as business owners. Looking back, our first arena was built out of wood, out of basically donated products. To show you how humble our situation was, it cost us $150 for the hardware to build that arena and it was hard to come up with that $150. Our dad worked construction all his life. Our mother was a stay at home mom. Money was tight. For us to be able to build that arena it took a lot. A lot of learning, a lot of hard work and we worked hard and we made it happen. It was all we wanted at the time. We were able to get our first horse from selling a few calves we had raised. His name was Buster and he pretty much taught us all how ride and rope. We spent a lot of time riding and roping and learning in that old wood arena. Memories we will never forget.

We all got into high school and learned how to weld and eventually that old wood arena started falling apart and we had to upgrade it. Us knowing how to weld now was a good opportunity to transition our wood arena to the a nice metal arena. One thing that we found out real quick, thankfully for good friends who were able to donate some pipe and materials for us was it's really expensive to build a nice metal arena. Not only that but it takes a lot of time. There's a lot of cuts and there's a lot of welds on a custom arena. It took us a good while to build it, but it turned out really nice and is still up to this day. We eventually built our own eight stall mare motel and filled it up with horses. We were so blessed by so many good people that helped us along way and it's crazy the things that we have learned through those experiences. Not only the ability to learn them but that life just doesn't throw great opportunities at you. You really have to put stuff together and go out and work for it. Trevor was working for a steel company right out of high school and Matt wanted to start a business so we went out doing pretty much the only thing we knew how to do. Looking back, it's crazy how we started. We had literally $400 a little Lincoln welder that barely ran and a pick up truck to get us to the jobs. Being in the horse industry, we knew a lot of horse people and we just started letting people know that we were starting to build fence and shades and barns. And from there a lot of people put a lot of stock in us and had a lot of faith in us. We were able to work with some really amazing people, a lot of customers that we really enjoyed working for. We built some really cool facilities and we learned a lot from it. There was a lot of struggles, a lot of hard times, but we made it through.

During that time we always thought what can we develop that would make fence building easier? If we could go back when we built our first arena out of wood what do we wish we could have had? How could we make fence building cheaper for our customers? How could we make this easier for our customers so they don't have to go through the hassle of trying to call and find contractors or wait for somebody to come put it up? How could they just do it themselves even if they don't know how to weld? We came across continuous fence and we realized we found that solution. Setting up that first continuous fence blew us away. A job of that would have taken us at least a week normally only took us about two days with continuous fence. It was amazing! We knew we had to get this fencing to people and from that point we evolved and we started manufacturing these products in hopes to make life easier for our customers. Through our mistakes and trials building fence we've learned so much and hope we can bring value to each of you. We're going to continue to develop other products, and continue to produce horse panels and continuous fence to allow you to spend more time with your families and enjoy an affordable product that fits your lifestyle and your budget. We really appreciate all of our customers and we're excited to meet all of our future customers. If only we had continuous fence when we were building our first wood arena. It took us a lot of time where we could have been riding more or doing the things we love. We hope you guys enjoyed our story. We hope it gives you some hope and we hope it gives you some excitement for your future. We want to continue to do these blogs to help you see our journey as well as some of the products we produce and, upcoming products as well as some tips on how to install our products. We look forward to sharing more information with you and you'll be seeing us more on Facebook, blogs and other social media so stay tuned for our next one and thank you guys for joining us today.
