Making progress on a complete remodel of kitchen, dining area and hallway. A few items left and this night and day transition is complete. The original layout was cramped and outdated with thin, dark wallboard, some minor structural issues, rot, and just didn’t have a very homelike feel. A they say, out with the old and in with the new. So, after completely gutting the kitchen, stripping the walls to studs, relocating and updating electrical, we are updating EVERYTHING, from appliances, plumbing and electrical, to drywall, shiplap, flooring, windows and new french door to name a few. It’s taking shape and do the finish line is in sight!

Another short one in the Crystal Mountain area. I was asked to address an issue with the client’s hot tub lid not being able to open all the way with the limited height of the new pergola. A quick brainstorming session coupled with creative freedom and we have some post bases fastened to the cement pad, wrapped in treated wood, finished with black pvc trim board to match the house and pergola. Looks sharp, intentional, and secured from the wind.

In the process of adding an additional garage space for my brother-in-law’s boat. The recent onslaught of snow slowed things down a bit but progress is being made. Closing up the walls today and then the getting a roof put on this bad boy. Once the garage is completed it’ll be on to re-siding entire house. It’ll be a fun one as we have a pretty neat design concept for the siding….some board and batten, some double lap, and a little cedar accent. Pictures to come.

I finally had a minute and was able to get a few photos of projects over the last couple months. This one is back to one of my first clients over in the Crystal Mountain area where I was contracted to do the fascia on his new build 2 summers ago. This time it’s inside to do some of the finish work around the fireplace.
*Custom built cabinets and bookcases to give the fireplace area a more luxurious feel. The cabinet doors are in the process of getting painted and will installed soon. I’ll post pictures of the finished look as soon as they’re ready.

Due to some back issues and surgery I haven’t been keeping up with the business page here. Over the coming days I will get some more posted here. But, here is a recent bathroom remodel. The customer wanted to paint so excuse the bare drywall.

Not pictured are a few aesthetic pieces that were added to button everything up, but we are done, complete, finished and ready to get furnished. This cabin will be available to rent next month. Located on the west side of Mesick city limits, close to Bear Lake, Frankfort, Beaulah, Traverse City, and more, if youre looking for an AirBnB rental, check this little cabin out! 2 rooms, 1 bath, updated electric, septic and water, and set back in the pines off of a gravel/dirt road, away from busy traffic. The manistee river, off-road trails, Lake Michigan and a whole list of other adventures are all within a quick drive.

A quick trim around the inside of an entry door. Simple, but not bland or boring. Left untouched for customers choice of paint color.

A quick update on a smaller project recently done. This customer had an old metal shelving unit that housed the washer and dryer in a stacked position. It was a trip to the hospital waiting to happen, so they asked if I’d build them a unit to keep the washer and dryer in the same position/location, but something safer, more aesthetically pleasing, that will flow with the cabinets we will be installing soon.

Progress on a small cabinet fabrication and install with butcher block countertop. One more day to go on this one. Shelves, trim, doors and backsplash with power strip insert have since been added. Finished project pictures to come!

Took a little hiatus from the cabin reno and spent some time in Northport helping a buddy out. He did the flooring and tile while I took care of the ceiling. This was an engineered hardwood, 1500sf of it to be exact….and while Im not normally big on gluing and nailing flooring to the ceiling, it looks beautiful.
