Alocasia fact of the day: Sometimes the best thing your Alocasia can do is absolutely nothing. 🌿😂
Every winter, people panic over humidity levels, soil mixes, fertilizers, and watering schedules… meanwhile Alocasias are over here saying, “I’m just taking a nap.”
Many Alocasias naturally go dormant when temperatures drop and daylight hours get shorter. They may lose leaves, stop growing, and disappear down to a corm, only to come roaring back when conditions improve.
Fun fact: Alocasias grow from corms, which store energy underground and help them survive unfavorable conditions. They’re basically built for a seasonal reset.
And while everyone worries they’re impossible plants, my sister’s Alocasias in South Carolina thrive year after year. Sometimes less panic and more patience is the secret. 💚
So if your Alocasia is taking a winter vacation, don’t throw it away. It might just be resting before its next big comeback. 🌱✨
