Happy February to all our gardening friends. It is hard to believe spring is around the corner. With the warmer days ahead of us we are likely to expiernce early germination of w**ds. Once the snow clears and we return to mild days it is not too early to apply a round of pre- emergent . Pre-emergent is a important tool for effective w**d management. Pre-emergent is a herbicide that is designed to control germinating w**ds, note pre-emergent is not designed to control existing w**ds or w**d seeds.
Also to all of our vegetable gardening friends now is a good time to place your order for your seeds for your garden. Also, this year dependable will be creating a compost pile to help provide nutrients to our fields for our sweet white corn. This is an easy DYI project that you can do at home and is inexpensive. Composting allows you to have enriched soil to help retain moisture and suppress plant diseases and pest from your garden. It is also reduces the need for chemical fertilizers and creates a rich nutrient material for your vegetables to grow in. Five benefits of composting is it allows nutrients to your soil, introduces valuable organisms to the soil for your plants to grow, Recycles kitchen and yard waste, reduces landfill waste, and is good for the environment. It is never to early to start , so get the creative minds flowing and don't forget to send us some pictures of your gardens and compost pile! We would love to see them.
