There used to be a fireplace and a wall in the middle of this Caledonia home — splitting the kitchen from the living room, with the kitchen capped under a flat 8-foot ceiling.
Both are gone.
We pulled the fireplace, took the wall down, and opened the kitchen ceiling into a cathedral that matches the one in the living room. Two rooms, one volume of space.
Before the new island went in, we reinforced the kitchen floor. Point loads on a heavy island add up — we'd rather over-build than answer questions about a sagging floor in five years.
New trim. New finishes. Same bones. The house lives entirely differently now.
