This past Thursday we hosted our annual end of year Band-quet.
Our traditional final acknowledgement and award (officially the Brian McFarland Dedication Award Scholarship) recognizes the students who have been in band grades 6-12, marched as 8th graders and for five total years, and were enrolled in every semester of high school band, accumulating eight full credits.
This scholarship is supported by the High Note Club, the parent Booster Club of the SOTC, Brian McFarland and Pro Doors and Shelving.
With all of the options afforded these students in high school, these students chose to hone their craft, excelling in technique and tone, demonstrating a level of dedication to themselves, their artistry, and their program much like the man for whom the award is named, Brian McFarland.
This year we had a record of SEVEN McFarland Scholars, each earning a $500 scholarship. But that’s not all!
This year, in celebration of this unique class of Scholars, through an extremely generous contributor, the scholarship was doubled and all seven students received a $1000 scholarship.
