Finally a nice summer day 🌻.not scorching hot in our garden for our time together!! We all got to harvest some of our wacky rainbow colored harvest twisting our green tipped squash off the vine, plucking beautiful purple basil and some long twisty yellow banana peppers...ps...that don't taste like bananas ..but still sweet! We had some tasters of our bounty right out of the garden..taking bites of peppers and squash and some eggplant too! We loved fairy watermelons ! Those little cucamelon vines we planted that look just like a fairy sized watermelons and taste like yummy cucumber easy to eat right out of the garden! We used more bounty from all our garden petals today to make our sweet garden necklaces today too! Inspired by master gardeners trip to the philadelphia flower show and our craft experience there! we all found and cut petals from our garden to make sweet garden necklaces! Such a fun garden craft to talk about pollinators and all the garden diversity and beauty in our garden! Im wearing mine all day to share our garden too! Next week is our last session for this summer and our harvest party fun and scarecrow fun!
Some more information on some of the vegetables we have in our garden too..

Its Monday! Kids in Garden time ! We had another hot day in our garden this morning but still great turnout for exploring and learning in the garden! Today was our Spotted Lanternfly education day and right on cue they showed up ! july nymphs hopping out to make themselves known right onto our little gardeners who learned how to do the lanternfly stomp! If they could catch the little guys? ....so hard to catch these jumping nymphs stage of SLF life cycle! We learned the best way to control them is before they emerge from their eggs ! We learned to look on trees, patio furniture , garage equipment, wood piles, playground equipment and when to find eggs and practiced scraping eggs from trees using our pretend playdoh version! Looks a lot like the real thing ! Bug troubles found our squash plants too ! Look for these squash bugs and eggs in your own gardens too!
