Daffodils. Baby garlics. And last years onions. Spring brings an awakening of so many emotions and a pause to quiet mornings and long hours spent reading and sipping tea. Part of me is still in hibernation, while the other part is chomping at the bit to get my hands in the dirt! My farm will be taking it easy again this year, but I will have garlic for you soon!

This year will bring a couple cute new items to the homestead, one brand new, the other tried and true. 😉😉

While it breaks my heart that I cannot open my farm to the public, I’m here to help you with all your gardening questions! As a full time mom I will spend my extra time raising my babies and teaching them how to be self sufficient. Please know that I’m no gate keeper when it comes to this, no single family could ever raise enough crop to feed a county, and we should all be working together to feed each other. Let’s learn together, rise together and support each other every step of the way!

Before and after. Welcome to the future home of our strawberry patch! These trees grew too tall and were shading my garden so they had to go, and I love that I can now see the full garden from my front porch.

This area served as our chicken pen for years and they loved tromping through the overgrowth and hiding eggs from me like real life Easter bunnies 😂 We haven’t had chicks in a few years and they’re on my wishlist, but we have quite a few chores to complete before I’m ready for them!

That’s some tall yarrow!! These gorgeous blooms won’t be used for arrangements though. I’m drying it to make a tincture and a salve. Yarrow has strong antibacterial and antifungal properties making it great for both inside and outside the body. Can’t wait to see how many uses it will bring us. Actually, I hope we don’t need it at all 😬 but it’s good to be prepared!!!

Chive butter, chive blossom ACV and chive infused olive oil. The liquids have to steep for 2 weeks but I’ll be digging into that butter tomorrow with some fresh baked bread 🤤. What’s your favorite way to use chives and their blooms?

Tomorrow is a big day for my farm! I’ll be at from 8-1 pm with all the hot weather veggie plants for your home garden! It’s almost time to get these babies in the ground, so see you there!
