It's almost Valentine's Day so, quell your cravings with some of our beautiful tropical foliage! A few cuties which will capture hearts on this special day are the stunning Episcia 'Purple Rain', magenta-colored Begonia exotica brevirimosa, heart-shaped foliage of Anthurium clarinervium, and show-stopping Calathea Dottie - All grown locally with our love!

As this year comes to a close, we reflect on when we first opened Variant Plant Company’s doors, to where we are today. The experiences have been both challenging and rewarding, gratifying and humbling, and have always included hard work and determination (all experiences which small business owners can relate to in their own way).

After receiving word that the facility we were leasing would be closing this fall, we had to embark on another adventure to make sure Variant had a future. Pooling our resources and starting construction to give our nursery a permanent home was an adventure to say the least (anyone who has built a greenhouse would likely agree!) They say when one door closes, another opens. As we put the finishing touches on our newly built facility and plan to open the doors shortly, we couldn’t think of any words which would ring truer. A lot of sweat, tears, and even some blood (installing concrete bench footings is no joke!) went into this next chapter for Variant.

It is not lost to us that we would not be here today with out the support of our customers and the hard work, grit, and determination from the staff, family, friends, and Ownership at Variant. We are so very grateful to each and everyone of you. As a family owned and operated nursery business, the relationships we have are most important to us and we would not be where we are without you. We are excited to embark on this next chapter and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays which are filled with lots of love, good health, success, happiness, and maybe few good laughs!

This Thanksgiving, we would like to express our sincerest gratitude to our customers, family, and friends. You have all helped to support our family business and as we transition into a brand new greenhouse facility, we realize we would not be here without you. We are so very thankful for your support and look very forward to formally opening our shiny new greenhouse doors very soon. We hope you have a wonderful holiday, filled with family, friends, and lots of laughs!

Happy new year from Variant!

We wanted to extend a thanks on here to anyone who has chosen Variant as a supplier this past year. We know that 2023 was challenging for many, and are ever grateful for the continued support of our local plant community. Your love for our plants has allowed us to grow, bring in new varieties, and continue to provide excellent quality plants whenever you need!

Here’s to a great year in 2024, we’re looking forward to continuing to supply the NYC, NJ, and PA areas with even more new varieties and unique finds :)

🌪️Philodendron tortum🌪️

We’re thrilled to say that our first batch of Philodendron tortum will hit availability in the first week of 2024! Our 4.5” plants are an excellent option to offer a starter size of a massive (at full maturity) collector plant. P. Tortum is a really unique species with fern-like foliage, but Aroid tolerance.
