Details details details. Refinishing a rosewood countertop (wood is okay even in a kids bath!) presented the opportunity to test a product called WaterLox. From time to time I run these experiments on my own home to see how they perform in real life over time. WaterLox is great stuff.

I have always held that an architect should be familiar with all sorts of materials and processes, and art is a great vehicle for exploring. This is one of my favorite pieces, thrown while in architectural school. I think maybe I need to get a wheel and kiln and a mass of clay...

Transformation of a ho-hum stair to a celebration, recognizing that it is a focal point of the entry and living room. I designed this 9 foot tall drop chandelier, curved the second floor just a bit, and had the handrail painted in a deep red automotive paint, which looks and feels amazing, and will withstand years of use.
