I created this video manual after being injured on a construction job and not able to go back to work. My profession as a Hellerwork Practitioner was closed down at the beginning of the pandemic. After being at home for months, I took a part time job with an acquaintance who had asked me to help him get his home maintenance company up and running and to get out of the house. I had now become essential.

I had a handyman business when I was in graduate school and it had been years since I had put on a tool belt and many things had changed. To refresh my knowledge, I began watching YouTube videos and found that I would look at 5 to 10 different videos before I found one that was well produced, and clear in its information. I began saving these videos for future reference.

My boss asked me to help him on a construction job in 2021. They had broken up some concrete in a downstairs room to remodel the bathroom. I had been doing home maintenance for a year and had worked on the job for several weeks, when we needed to carry the broken concrete up to the street. I thought nothing of it and loaded a construction bag and walked up three flights of stairs, three different times. A few days later my body began to get sore all over. I thought this was like working out at the gym and it would pass in a few days. Well my body had other ideas and went into mass inflammation, which lasted for months. After a few weeks I was unable to continue working and applied for Workers Compensation. The injuries to my neck, shoulders, hands, back, hips and knees have been slow to heal. I couldn't go back to doing Hellerwork, which I had done for 35 years, nor could I go back to doing maintenance.

What could I do? I had researched real estate investing on YouTube also. My washer and dryer went out and I looked to YouTube to repair them. It then struck me that what was missing was a comprehensive, easy way to use YouTube to take care of our houses. Out of this "All About Your DIY House: A Video Manual for How to Buy, Build, Renovate, Remodel, Repair, and Maintain Your House" was conceived.

I watched several thousand videos and selected 572 videos from 327 different contributors.
