Please hear me carefully.
Those buying hatching eggs. I can guarantee fertility. I can't guarantee a hatch. I breed rare breeds. Most fertility is 75 percent. That means reason beyond my control, some eggs are not fertile. I have no control over who the rooster favorite is this week or if a hen is mad at a rooster. Second once sold and in an incubator I have no control on setting. Why do eggs stop developing half way through. Well for large eggs mostly it is because they are not getting rotated (most incubators are not set up to automatically turn large eggs). Yes there are some that come with a large egg turner for turkey, ducks, and geese.I own a few that do but most don't. Second humidity and temp. Chicken needs a different set up than a goose. I am always hatching my eggs. I know personally if there are issues. Please tell me if fertility is low (that is something I can fix). Please do not tell me that a whole batch of eggs stopped developing half way through. That is either an incubator issue or you didn't let them rest 24 hours on a counter prior to incubation. Egg don't like being shaken. I can't see your set up to know what happened. However if you're local I will physically come with eggs to set up your incubator. I am not rude. These are living beings.

This is our only bantam pair at the moment. Rosie Cotton (a pyncheon) and her husband Teach aka Black Beard (D'uccle). If I sell bantam eggs going forward it will be from this pairing until our Bardu D' Watermael hatch. However our mixed breed bantam and eggs will come from this pair until Rosie Cotton stops laying.

These are the beginning of my breeding flock of turkeys. There is a third, but so far asleep in the hair it's not visible. I am grateful for the year I had with the trio that produced them. However turkeys are best when you hand hand rear them. It won't be possible with every turkey hatched here, but I will do my best

We will be at Lime Hallow Swap on Sunday. Plenty of Appenzeller Spitzhaubin chicks and plenty of Hatching eggs. I won't be hatching after this week until September. I probably won't hatch much then. I am keeping my muscovy ducklings this year. I have some very interesting patterns I haven't seen before. Probably will sell a few hens and drakes come fall. I will have a few extra turkeys in fall as well, but I am raising this last group. My Sebastopol might or might not be laying this fall but we have a drake. I am pretty sure next year breeds will be Golden Spangle, Chamois, and Silver Spangle Appenzeller Spitzhaubin, Svarthona, Crested Cream Legbars, Marans, Bardu D' Watermael, Barnevelder, and 3 hybrids (olive eggers, green eggers, and moonbeam). We are also adding pet quality call ducks.

Why I sometimes have breeds I don't actually breed. First off I love hatching chicks just for the joy of hatching chicks. If someone gives me a dozen eggs, and asks me to hatch, I will for $20. Sometimes they want everything that hatches sometimes only 6. That leaves extra. Sometimes I get random cartons of eggs from my favorite breeders (all eggs are pure bred just a random selection). Sometimes I am deciding what breeds I want to add. Sometimes I decide they will work, and for whatever reason I decide it is a no go. Lastly I occasionally will take chicks on heat in swap if I think I can resell once feathered.

In the process of moving this lovely lady and her hatchlings to a safer spot, she pooped. I don't mean a nice one a mean broody momma one that soaked my pants. The stretch, yuck. However she did adopt 8 from the house and three from another momma so all is forgiven.

I still have some Appenzeller Spitzhaubin for sale. I also have some mixed bantam and some Japanese bantam I got in a swap. I also have a few marans, olive eggers, and two chamois hens off heat available as well as a Marans rooster.

Still plenty of Appenzeller Spitzhaubin for sale. I will admit I dump the ones that didn't sell into the brooder box, and didn't check on them. I ate dinner and was asleep by 8 pm. I thought for sure with all the stress, we have lost one (packed those babies up at 6 am with hot hands, drove an hour and half to swap meet, sat outside with them for 5 hours, drove an hour and half home). However I went to check on them this morning and they are running around happy. No poppy but in sight. So thankful. Especially as I left my Svarthona chicks alone all day without checking on them. Hardy birds are the key to a great flock. Eugene did not like the Serama after raising them up. So I bid on Bardu D' Watermael eggs and won. So the hunt for the right bantam chick continues. Not doing leghorn either. They didn't fit either. This means no "zombie" chicks however I can't wait to see what Svarthona and Chamois Appenzeller Spitzhaubin hybrid will be. Chamois carry white dominant and Svarthona are fibro. So it will still be an amazing fall project. Marans flock is outside and off heat and doing amazing. We lost Crested Cream Legbar hen this spring (for no reason, probably heart related), so down to 4 ladies. However I have more beautiful chicks growing up.
