With cottonwood season in full swing, it may be worth checking the outdoor unit for your air conditioner or heat pump. Cottonwood fluff can collect on the condenser coils and restrict airflow. Gently wiping the coils with a wet rag and then using a blower to remove any stubborn clumps can help keep the unit operating properly. When condenser coils become heavily blocked, cooling performance and efficiency can drop significantly, causing the system to work much harder than necessary.
