This is a woolly rhino carcass that was discovered in north-eastern Siberia, 2007.
Known as the Kolyma Woolly Rhino, this almost complete adult is 39,000 years old. It even preserves the intestines, stomach, and their contents.
There are various cave paintings of woolly rhinos, like this one from Chauvet Cave, France. It is amazing to think that people saw these beautiful animals. Photo by Magnus Manske.
I love that we can combine exceptional remains like Ice Age mummies and cave art to reconstruct beautiful models like the one here at Weston Park Museum, Sheffield.
